Chapter 17 The invisible man's golden theft.

Zimbabwe was once a wealthy, growing former colonial nation of Britain. With an abundance of natural resources and one of Africa's richest pieces of arable farmland, it's potential was immense. But with the forcible expulsion of the white man who owned over seventy percent of the farmland the country's economy collapsed.

With people who had no clue how to manage a farm or motivation to do so, the countries farm exports declined by over 50 percent. Ever since then, a war with the Congo and other bad decisions the country has been left in economical ruin.

Although In recent years the economy has finally started to stabilise and the government has even managed to accumulate loads of hard assets. Namely, the government has stored nearly 1000 kilograms of gold and platinum bars in it's central bank vaults.

But soon all this was about to change. On March 13th during the closing hours of the building, a car with no visible driver stopped in front of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

In the main lobby of the building, a young woman working behind a counter was writing her end-of-the-day report. But then to her surprise, the automatic sliding doors of the building opened.

Quickly putting on a friendly smile she prepared to greet the visitor that wasn't there. All she could see was the sliding door that was seemingly stuck in an open position as if it were forced open.

Then to her left another automatic door opened and out it stepped a familiar face of the buildings head security guard. The middle-aged man wearing dark clothes, a bulletproof vest and a dark cap and on his shoulders, there were many stripes indicating his high rank.

With a smile the man greeted the young woman saying. " How you doing? "

Smiling back at the man the woman said. " Oh, you know. Just the usual. I think I'll be done in a bit just need to fix that door real fast and then I'll be done. "

Stopping at the counter the man turned to the door and said. " AHH, hate it when it does that. Should get maintenance to fix it tomorrow. "

Turning towards the woman he then said. " You know I'm just about to finish my last round for the day. Just need to check out the vaults and close them up. After that, I'll come back here and help you out and maybe after that, we can go get something to eat together. "

Not wanting for her response the man just walked off to the stunned woman's left side and with a key card entered a metal door. Not closing the door the man just let it close on its own as he walked further into the hall. But then as the door shut closed, he suddenly stopped.

Turning around he looked at the door with suspicion. Though it was but for a mere millisecond he still noticed it. Having done this thousands of times the delayed closing of the door was instantly noticeable to him.

But as he saw nothing there he simply shook his head thinking that it must have been just his imagination. But once more he stopped and looked again. Thinking back, he realized that there seemed to be something in the air in front of the door. But now that he looked again, there seemed to be nothing there.

Confused as to whether was he just imagining things or maybe he was just getting too old for this. The man then turned around and headed for the security elevator down the hall. Getting to the door he used his key card and pressed in a code to unlock the doors and then went inside.

Riding the elevator downstairs he then proceeded to check all the vaults there. Each time before entering he needed to use his key card and enter in a different code for each door. Walking inside the vaults he quickly looked around to see that everything was as it was before and then he left. Slowly by hand, he closed each massive door and then locked them.

Once he was done with all the vaults he simply left back upstairs where the woman waited for him. With a smile on his face, he told the woman to go wait at his car while he went to change clothes.

But Unknown to all, as the woman walked out the doors, so did almost 1000 kilograms of precious metals. Then the ghost car in front of the bank started it's engines and Chad now approximately over 70 million dollars richer drove into the sunset.

Now all he needed to do was make his way into South Africa. Open up a new bank account. Transfer the gold into digital currency which he could toss into his new account. Turn that money into Bitcoin and then send it back to his US-based bank account. Although to not raise too much suspicion he could only transfer a little bit of that money to himself at a time. The rest of the money would need to stay in Bitcoin for the time being.

The next very next day as people returned to work and the vaults of the bank were opened. The security guard on duty that say accompanied by a bank employee both froze in shock at the empty sight that was in front of them.

Not believing what they were seeing they went from vault to vault only to discover that all of them were completely empty. Only dust was left in the precious metals instead.

As not to cause their investors, their foreign partners and most importantly the consumer confidence to fall the situation was kept silent. Only the highest government officials were informed of what had happened and a secret investigation was launched. Roadblocks on the borders were quickly established and all larger vehicles going out of the country were searched.

But with no leads or signs of any sort to go on regarding the investigation, many already could start to see the writing on the wall. The gold was truly and utterly gone. With this in mind some of the countries elite started to pack up their things and move.

Meanwhile, after slipping past the Zimbabwe and South Africa border, Chad had made his way to Johannesburg where he had slept in his stolen car for the entire morning. Once he had awoken he noticed that he had leveled up once again.

Seeing the numbers he was pleased to see that this time he had gained two points in all his stats. Also, his soul counter had once again increased in an incredible amount. Now he had a little bit over 100 thousand souls at his disposal. Looking at his requirements for gaining the next level after this Chad was surprised to see that the experience requirement was already over ten million. If he were to just get 50 experience per person he would need to get over three hundred thousand people killed for his next level.

Seeing this large number felt a bit too unreal for him. How was he going to ever gain such experience? To level up he would need a lot and a lot of time. Time which his mortal human body just didn't have that much of.

Thinking of this he came to the system shop menu. While looking for a solution to this problem he found that there was one new unique bloodline that he could pick up. That being the Dark Elf bloodline.

Seeing this Chad hesitated. Thinking of all that he had done so far he couldn't help but feel that he was heading down a very dark path right now. Unsure of what to do and feeling conflicted in his heart Chad closed the shop menu and decided to think about it later.

After that, he decided to just go do what he had planned to do beforehand. Heading into the bank in his bloody dark clothes and dirty appearance he earned himself a fast service.

Opening up a new bank account happened surprisingly fast as the cashier seemed extremely reluctant to speak to him any more than she absolutely had to. Once done now all he needed to do was go from precious metals exchange to precious metal exchange and transfer all his gold into digital money.

March 15th a South African armored truck transporting gold suddenly after it's crew exited the vehicle to unload the cargo it simply disappeared. Someone had destroyed all the security cameras by throwing rocks from a great distance. Also, the security guards didn't see anything. They say that one moment they exited their vehicle and once they turned their backs to it, it simply vanished into thin air.

While authorities were left baffled by this event a now 190 centimeters tall Chad dressed in a fancy blue suit and tie, was sitting in a private plane headed for the US.

Now with one million dollars in his main account and having bought 70 million dollars worth of bitcoin at the cheap price of 4 thousand dollars. Plus he had just before leaving stolen an armored truck with even more gold, Chad just couldn't help it as he kept on smiling like an absolute madman during his entire flight back home. The flight attendants kept on looking at him like he was some kind of a creep but Chad didn't care.
