"If you don't mind, may I have your first dance, Your Highness?" Ahan walked towards Princess Layla, who was left alone by her family.
"Are you pitying me, Lord Nasir?" Layla snorted.
"Of course not. I really want to dance with you first," Ahan said, anticipation filling his eyes.
He longed to be the first person to dance with her.
There was a legend in Averlyon stating that if a couple had their first dance at their wedding, they would be together for eternity. As ridiculous as it seemed in modern times, many still believed in the legend and danced to ensure eternal union.
Ahan wanted to express his feelings for her by every means possible. He feared voicing his thoughts aloud, unsure if he was imagining things. Perhaps Layla might even reciprocate his feelings, though not as deeply as he loved her—perhaps enough for her to make an effort to approach him.
