After several minutes, Rayne glanced sideways and caught him looking at her, his forehead furrowed into a thoughtful frown.

Suppressing a self-conscious impulse to smooth her hair, she broke the silence with the first subject that came to her mind.

"The atmosphere and weather here are unlike anywhere else I've lived. Everything on the island is so colorful and dreamy."

"Yes, it is," he agreed seriously, though he was almost smiling. Rayne felt so relieved that she gave him a small grin.

Liam's gaze dropped from her bright green eyes to her soft lips, and the impulse to kiss her was so strong that he had to turn his head and look in a different direction and pretend like she wasn't sitting next to him in the car.

His conscience had suddenly developed a voice after decades of silence on the subject of sexual principles, and it was in an uproar over the true picture he'd just formed of Rayne Wallace.
