Concerns

What benefits could the daughter of a count in a poor kingdom offer. Even though Arien was king, there are still others who are trying to dethrone him. A powerful family like the Rothwood or any other powerful family from the neighboring kingdoms would have been better but Grenwade.

It felt as if the former king was trying to ruin his grandson

"Hmm… not quite" Arien said. Knowing his grandfather's personality, it's impossible for him to hand over a powerful position to a nobody. This girl must be very special if she was chosen by his grandfather.

"Keep an eye on her and tell me everything she does" Arien said as he left.

"Yes your majesty"Julian said with a bow.

At the estate of the former king, Renold was busy tending to the birds in his greenhouse when his butler informed him that he had a guest.

"Send her in"

The butler bowed and left. Few minutes later he returned with a woman

"Greetings your majesty" Andrea said with a bow.

"If you've come here to change my mind regarding your son's bride, you can go back. I have already chosen her" Renold said without turning back.

"I know that but may I ask why you chose her. You are aware that Arien's throne is being threatened" Andrea asked. It was very obvious that she was worried.

Renold chuckled.

"Seeing you like this would make a stranger think that you've always cared about your son"

Andrea clenched her fists tightly as her eyes turned slightly red. Some memories that she would love to forget came flooding in.

"What they think has no importance to me. I know I haven't been a good mother to king Arien which is why I have come to ask your permission"

"Oh?" Renold turned around and met the woman's gaze.

"Renox will be celebrating the Feast of Kings. I would like it if I can invite the bride you've chosen as the future queen. It would be better if she can get accustomed to the culture and traditions of Renox. I want to be fully responsible for her during this time" Andrea said.

"Hmm" Renold contemplated before giving her his answer. "Ok,do as you wish. Grayson will tell you what you need to know"

After getting the answer, Andrea bowed politely and turned to leave.

"If this is another one of your tricks, let me be the first to tell you that it will fail miserably" Renold added.

Andrea who had stopped walking when she heard the former king speak turned around and bowed again before leaving.

Renold continued tending to his birds while humming.

Andrea met with Grayson, the butler of the estate. He gave her the information she needed and saw her off.

Inside the carriage, Andrea instructed her personal maid to send a letter to Astelle informing her of the upcoming event. She wanted to get familiar with her new daughter-in-law. If she was weak, that would be a problem.
