Miracle's POV
"What a beautiful name?" He was holding a photograph in his hand.
"What's that?" I asked him and pointed at it.
"Oh nothing…just the most beautiful moment there is…" he handed it over to me and I took it. It was a photograph of me. He had taken my picture with a camera I was yet to see.
He stared right at me like he couldn't tear his gaze away even if he tried.... like I'm something magical.
"Sorry…I hope It's not too weird that I took your picture. I just couldn't look away"
I blinked, bewildered.
"Really?"
"Yeah, are you a model?" He asked me.
I don't think I have blushed so hard before. My heart started a little dance and I got my first butterfly in the stomach.
"God, no. I hardly have time for anything but school right now"
"Oh, college right?" He asked me and took a step closer to me.
I prayed that the secret service agent assigned to shadow me as heir to the Zolcovia throne doesn't view him as a threat and blow his brains out before I had the chance to see him up close.
It would be a shame.
He was a striking creature.
"Hmm…no, high school" I blurted out awkwardly.
"Oh" he took a step back. "You are still teenager"
I knew he was backing off and we had too much chemistry for me to let him go away.
"I will be eighteen next week! I'm old enough" I said too fast.
He ran his hand through his hair, his eyes suddenly shy
"You are the most beautiful person I have seen in Manhattan but I think I'm too old for you"
"You don't look that old-"
He smiled. his flawless lips pressing tightly together like it was torture to walk away from me.
Me! I'm the thing he was enchanted with!
"It was nice to meet you, Miracle. It's an absolute pleasure"
I was disappointed…so disappointed. The first boy to make me feel alive was right in front of me and he was walking away.
I felt a pang of intense sadness come over me, this wasn't the fairytale moment I wanted but then he said. "Catch you later, Sweetness" before flashing the most adorable smile.
I felt it again. The butterfly and the whole shebang!
Woah!
I felt everything!
I watch him go.
For the next three days, I came to look for him but he was nowhere to be found.
Damn!
Suddenly everything I have read in my book was happening…the butterfly and the racing heart and the little pain that comes from a squeeze in my heart whenever I didn't see him.
Everything…every book worthy thing!
And then when I thought he was gone forever, I saw him again…in the little coffee place across the bookstore - Rosemary Cafe.
He wore a cute blue turtleneck with white pants and Prada sneakers. He was sipping coffee while holding a book in one hand.
My heartbeat hastened instantly as I crossed the street to go meet him. I wondered if he would remember me, if the moment that changed my life forever was just another day for him.
God I hope not!
Nothing could be worse and that was saying a lot from a girl that was kidnapped at five.
I stopped when I got to him, signaling Jed the agent to keep his distance.
"Hey. I don't know if you remember me but we met a few days ago" I told him bluntly.
He looked at me intensely for a few seconds before he smiled.
"Of course…Hi, Miracle"
Oh wow!
He remembered my name.
"Oh, hi Stevie"
It was the happiest day of my life.
Rosemary cafe became our meet up spot. After school, I would race down to the cafe in hopes of catching a glimpse of him or having a stimulating conversation with the most interesting person I have ever met.
We talked non-stop about a lot of things…our topics were versatile and interesting.
He was a senior in college and he was going to have his BA in International Relations and Diplomacy, it was expected of him to return home and follow in his father's footsteps as Prime Minister of Oswald or maybe surpass his father.
He said it like it was something that has been drilled into him as a child, it made me want to know his true passion not the path laid out for him.
"What are you passionate about, Steve? Do you even want to be a prime minister?" I asked him.
He looked at me and he relaxed into his chair like he was trying to give in all of his focus to come up with a great answer.
"I am passionate about serving my country. My family is in line for the Oswaldian throne but we are so far behind, it would take a great tragedy to get me to the front of the line. I would have made a fantastic king, Miracle. What about you? Is your family interesting?" He asked me.
I wanted to tell him that my grandfather was King of Zolcovia and I was third in line after my father and older twin brother.
I wanted to tell him that my mother was a princess in her own right, and Uncle Zuri was King of castaway putting Mama as second in line after our baby cousin Jethro Emlian Williamson making my siblings and I the first royals in this century with legitimate claims to two countries.
but I couldn't. Dad had sworn us to secrecy about it.
"Not really…Daddy is an engineer and momma is a journalist…a blogger actually but don't let her hear you say it. I have a twin brother Xavier. He is a genius!"
"Oh, not so humble are we?"he asked with a smile.
"No, really…he is actually a genius with his IQ in the low 250. he is the captain of a lot of teams in school except football, he is horrible with balls…"
He laughed when I made a joke about Xavier's balls.
"Good one"
"Thank you. I have a baby sister named Love-Emily but everyone calls her Beetle, she is a future Olympic gold medalist - basketball, she is the best of everyone"
There was a little silence before he spoke again.
"What about you? You hardly talk about yourself"
"I'm not very impressive" I told him.
"I have a feeling that's the furthest thing from the truth"
