Miracles POV
I blinked back the memories that plagued me and focused on the present.
I took a deep breath and the heaviness in my chest increasing a thousand times.
I stood up on shaking legs. Dinner must be over by now and we could go back on the journey to getting my life back and finally going home.
I followed the path until I could hear the sound of people, I was once again back in civilization.
I almost made it to the little cafeteria when two boys came out of nowhere and surrounded me.
I didn't know them personally except one was seat mate with Ramsey.
"May I help you?" I asked them in a low voice.
Frankly, I was too damn exhausted to even be terrified of their intentions.
The world was a horrible place, I know that now.
I felt my eyes begin to tear up a little, my overwhelming sadness was making it almost impossible for me to feel terrified.
I looked at them, held their gaze.
I was still trying to figure out their motive when Ramsey walked in with two more people, a boy and a girl this time.
"What do you want?" I asked their ringleader but the girl shoved me and I fell on the ground.
It was comfortable there and so, I stayed down, not daring to move a muscle.
"That's real mature, asshole" I spat out.
She didn't say anything but Ramsey did. He squatted down and he grabbed my cheek roughly.
"You shouldn't mouth off to me. Your protector is nowhere to be found now, is he?" He asked me.
If I wasn't too exhausted, I would have pointed out that he was high on coke or something because he hallucinated a protector for me when I didn't have one.
"Are you done?" I asked him. If he was done with his bullying then I wanted to go back to the bus for food and maybe some good old fashion cry.
"You threatened to slit my throat. You have no idea who you are dealing with…absolutely no idea"
Boy! How wrong was he?!
They were werewolves. Ramsey may have masked his scent but the little bitch girl didn't. She was beta blood, and if one was werewolf then the rest were.
"I didn't think Oswald had people like you" I told him
"People like me. What do you mean?" Ramsey asked me.
"Wolves, stupid…I mean wolves, you must be Alpha blood if these dickheads are taking orders from you and risking getting expelled from the military. They must have pretty low self esteem, not that you are better in that area but you know what I mean"
He looked at the girl and she came closer and smacked me across the face causing my teeth to sink into my lip drawing blood.
It was a welcome change.
The physical pain gave me a break from my emotional one.
I spat out the blood on the ground but I didn't try to hit them back. I could take maybe her but I would be a fool to try to take down an Alpha blood and four wolves on my own without my own wolf.
"What are you? You are certainly hiding your scent" he said
"Well, backward people like you like to refer to people like me as an abomination…we prefer heretics," I told him.
He took a step back. He wasn't sure if I had access to my powers or not because if I did he was dead.
"You are a hybrid" he said under his breath.
"Yes, genius. I am a hybrid. Which means there is a 50% chance that I have endured a near death experience in my past which triggered my powers and now, I could rip you apart because even though I'm half human and half werewolf, and regarded as an abomination I'm forever cursed or blessed, depending on who you ask. I am better than both species" I continued.
I think I was buying time for an adult or anyone to notice we were gone long enough to come looking for me
"It means I get all the strengths that come with being a werewolf like superspeed, mind link, super healing, super reflex longevity, freedom in the wild…....the list go on and none of your weakness like need for a packs mind link and having our entire body break and rearrange during a shift or a severe reaction to wolfbane…we are still figuring out the allergy to silver part but we will get there. We are your worst nightmare because compared to us, you are greatly lacking buddy. So, back off!" I screamed at him.
I held his gaze, hoping he wouldn't call my buff and beat me senseless.
I have no powers.
I have had a thousand near death experiences but my powers didn't activate like my brother or our parents.
Ramsey stood upright and moved away from me. It looked like my plans were going to work but then he stopped.
"You don't have your powers yet, do you?" He asked me.
"Only one way to find out" I said with what I hope was unwavering bravery.
He lowered himself down to look at me. "No, you don't. You would have attacked if you did"
He stood up and laughed loudly
"You are helpless. No one is coming to save you!" He looked around and his pack laughed with him.
I knew he was right. No one was coming to save me, Xavier was halfway home and my father barely speak of me.
I am all by my lonesome self.
"I would hit you but I was raised right and therefore I don't hit girls but threats to me or my pack will be answered with violence and Nancy here will beat you senseless, right Nance?" He asked the girl and she smiled widely like she couldn't wait to pound my face in.
Fuck! Frying pan to fire, am I right?
But on the good side, I might get knocked into a coma and spend half of the mandatory military service in the hospital.
"Well, what the hell? Bring it! Who doesn't love a good knock on the head, Ramsey?" The voice came from behind us.
I turned around and Hardy was standing there with his bag and a plate of meat.
I wondered if he knew exactly what he had gotten himself into. He was probably going to be casualty too.
He took a step forward towards Ramsey and I expected the asshole to attack but he didn't instead he looked at me.
"Come on, guys. She's not worth it" Ramsey said and walked away, taking with him his band of sidekicks.
The dark haired boy turned his attention to me. His voice gentled as he came closer to me.
"Are you alright?"
