Chapter 25: the last thing I need

Miracle POV

I sat outside the commander's office clutching my bag and terrified as hell. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before opening it.

It was no surprise I was the only cadet waiting for him.

Every other person went through the door to fort Geneva.

I looked left and right, and maybe it was me but the hall seemed bigger and longer…like it stretched to eternity.

I took another deep breath.

Breathe, Miracle, breathe.

I closed my eyes and tried to steady myself. The conversation I had earlier with Hardy Kendall Lockhart replaying over and over in my head.

I shut it out. I can't overthink things…I don't have time to overthink this. Especially how easy he left without a word when he was sure I was done panicking. There was no goodbye, just a little smile and a nod.

He was a confusing guy, nice but with a lot of layers.
