Remo's POV
Abby was curled in Remo's lap, her body tense with the weight of her thoughts, as if each one were a heavy burden she could barely bear. Remo held her close, his arms wrapped protectively around her, his touch a comforting anchor in the storm of her emotions.
For what felt like hours, but couldn't have been more than 15 minutes, they remained in silence, Abby lost in the tumultuous sea of her mind and Remo struggling to find the right words to soothe her. He whispered reassurances, tender words of comfort, but it felt like trying to diffuse a time bomb, never knowing which wire might set it off.
The realization hit him like a tidal wave – Abby had never truly known comfort, never experienced the warmth of unconditional love and support apart from her father. The thought of her battling with these demons alone, feeling worthless and alone, tore at his heart.
