Bend over

Abby lay in bed, surrounded by darkness that seemed to press in on her from all sides. She turned onto her side, then onto her back, then onto her other side, but no position felt comfortable. Her mind raced with thoughts and worries making it impossible to relax.

She sighed heavily, staring up at the ceiling. The soft glow of the moon peeked through the curtains, casting eerie shadows across the room. The silence of the night only served to amplify the cacophony of her thoughts.

Just as she felt herself drifting into a fitful doze, a voice broke through the silence.

"Abby, are you okay?"

Remo's voice was gentle, concern evident in every syllable. Abby turned her head to see him sitting up beside her, his eyes filled with worry.

"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" she whispered, feeling guilty for disturbing his sleep.
