As soon as the couple entered their room, Ryker watched as Raquel flopped down on their bed, letting out a huge sigh of relief. She didn’t even bother changing out of her dirty gown.
But at that moment, Ryker didn’t really care. They could always get the bedding changed so he let Raquel have her moment. She clearly needed it after everything that had happened today.
“It’s finally over…” Raquel whispered, barely audible. “She’s gone forever.”
Ryker sat down next to Raquel and nodded his head in agreement. “She won’t be a problem for you ever again.”
Raquel removed her mask, gazing up at the ceiling as Ryker said those words. He wasn’t sure what exactly was going on in her mind, but one thing was for sure.
She had conquered the demon tormenting her and could finally begin to heal.
“Ryker.” Raquel called out, turning to gaze at him. “When this is all done, we should go to the north for a while. Take a break from all the politics and drama.”
