I woke up by the sound of sirens. I immediately checked my phone and got into my uniform. "Save? What is it?" I asked through the phone as I dashed the stairs down.
"Chimera is about to appear right where you live. Cross the street and wait for us."
"Okay." I said and hung up. I swallowed. I dashed across the street to the usually lively area in front of the small supermarket, between it and the bus and tram station.
I heard the sound of thunder and looked around. I looked at the area in front of the supermarket. It was Savethal. I approached. Something was up. Either a strong villain, or a Class 2 threat or well city level threat. Save wore her suit and a bunch of heroes and villains appeared, all in costume. Timhi, Dragongirl, Fusion and more.
I saw people rush to the hidden bunkers behind me. I prayed Jade was among them but I couldn't have it distract me. I needed to try and focus on the fight. I assume she was save in a bunker.
I slapped myself and took a deep breath. I changed my typical half joking half serious impression to a fully serious one. I couldn't be halfassed in this. I was serious with Peacebreaker too. "Savethal. What is the plan?" I asked and looked at the heroes, who were somewhat shocked to hear me talk fully seriously. "We will form an attack line." Save started. "But we need to wait for more and more heroes." She added and I gave a nod as a reply. I leaned on a nearby container that was often used for various purposes, currently a hotdog stand. Everyone was worried and I was too. I wasn't scared but I was worried for the city. Chimera always left big destruction in its wake and it had never been defeated. I knew I never went against it. It was an accelerator, controller and brawler. At least those were the rough classification. Chimera wasn't considered human anymore. More and more heroes and villains arrived. Save started to hand out collars. They were effectively chokers with a bigger emblem on the front. She helped the more clumsy or shapeshifting heroes to put them on. She then started to explain. "The collars are communication devices and register yourself. State your name after pressing the singular button on the device one after the other to register into the cloud of the ACS. It will register you into the collar and will announced every deceased hero or villain. This event is not to be exploited for one's own gain! As is obvious. We all fight Chimera." She yelled. I pressed it and said: "Ratel." Loud and clear as one should. From the collar a cord extended to my left side of my neck and another to my right. "Ratel is participating in the Chimera event." A metallic voice stated from every other collar. Then more heroes and villains followed my example. The names that stuck out to me personally were: "Fusion. Dragongirl. Swordsmastress. Timhi. Silver Snake. Arkshot." I sighed. After a full 10 minutes or more Save continued talking. "The best tinker made them. At least the best available. The left button is a request for life safety. The right for general messages. The middle for important messages regarding chimera." Save yelled. "Once Chimera retreats or it dies, I will get medics aboard to help! In the meantime, the bunker under the supermarket behind me will do for the injured. NOW! Every singular brawler or anyone close-range that could do damage to my left at the red square!" Save said and Fusion, among Dragongirl and myself went to the area. I didn't say a word. I remained serious.
"Every long-ranged attacker behind me! You will be brought onto Roofs along fliers!" Save barked. "Every accelerator and fliers to my right onto the blue circle! You are the rescue team! Every injured you will carry to safety!" She added and the heroes and villains moved as told. The remaining were all sent to the bunker to apply first aid. They vanished into the dim red bowels of the structure.
I looked at the girl who slowly turned into a small dragon. The size of a bull. Then at Fusion, whose skin turned dark-grey and reflective. His eyes red and hair seemed to turn into flames. I simply grew my fur. Then we spread out. Fliers and rescuers under the entrance to the bunker. Long ranged onto small reenforced points all around the block. Save teleported them alongside the other teleporters that then appeared with the rescuers and fliers. Then just as the brawlers tried to get into position a roar echoed through the air. It was loud. Similar to a new year's rocket. And that was it where I was. The thing was on the roof of a six-story building. The lionhead spat a fireball into the crowd. Fusion managed to send it back at the creature. The creature was at least two stories tall and at least one whole story wide. A giant lion from the looks, just with two heads. A goat one and a lion one, yet the mane of the lion was on fire and the fangs were poisonous. Then we ran to the crossroad. A fireball hit the front and we managed to dodge. A few newbies dropped. "Nemesis Web deceased. Jet Baron deceased. Ghost Pacer deceased. Shrinking Mute deceased. Hell born injured. Bugbeat injured." The collar announced. I ran around the fiery mess. The road had melted in the middle of where the ball hit and had reshaped into a sunken crater. The creature jumped down. Now revealing two large wings, comparable to an eagles. Then it flung its back to us, revealing another head. One of a snake instead of a tail. A giant black mamba from the looks. Yet more deadly. This beast obviously had no critical weak points I could exploit like a humans. That ignores the hardened skin. Although it is only basically tough leather. I took a deep breath and charged and swung at a leg. I cut my whole claws through, barely scratching the surface. Other heroes tried to help me but were either flung away or killed. I didn't listen to the collar anymore. I suddenly laid in front of Fusion. I quickly picked myself up. "Did ya manage to get the drones ready?" I asked him over the sound of our collars pronouncing every injured and every dead hero or villain. "Yeah, I did. Just hard to control!" Fusion replied and hurled fireballs at the creature and running separate way from me. I ran left, he right. I saw Dragongirl as a dragon the same size and jumped onto her claw. I had a plan that could work to stun it a bit. But it was risky.
