Three realms?

Back when I was younger I was born into a very wealthy family. Not the kind of rich where we would have some lavish house on the outskirts of the main castle. I was the type of rich who lived in that castle, I was the king's daughter. This is where the story seems to become a bit more complicated. I wasn't the daughter of the light or the dark realm; I was the daughter of the kingdom in the clouds. What happened to this place? How did it disappear? It was a very weird occurrence, wiping almost all of my history away with it. Let's start back to the beginning. It was what looked like a never-ending peace. It had been decades since the last war and the people had enough of the violence as a whole, we entered a peaceful era built around compromise. People still scared from past conflicts desired nothing more than peace. Our country was flourishing with trade to the dark and light realms. Wealth in goods caused us to have a booming economy where starvation was almost unheard of. Our name changed a hundred years ago with the end of the war to the Nurean Dynasty following our royal family's traditions. I couldn't tell you why itwy it was named that way but the name seemed to stick and as time passed people seemed to forget the prior name. Towering mountains blanketed ninety percent of the visible land, farms covering the rest. Our mountains built a protective wall around our castle and our people. Mountains covered with forest green blankets made of tall trees built to withstand the altitude. Snowy peaks dusted our mountaintops all year round. Valleys house most of our population providing a section of flat land for our people to thrive. The green look of pure nature was stunning.

I am the firstborn of my family, the next heir to the throne. I was a slight disappointment, to be honest, my parents wanted a true heir to the throne, a boy. But despite all that, they still loved me and gave me the best experiences I could have. I could always feel the lingering disappointment from my father so I had tried to become the boy he had always wanted. I had him teach me how to shoot a bow and arrow against my mother's wishes. I learned how to wield a sword and played battle strategy games against my father. But I knew that even through all that they wished I was a boy. That wanting for a boy grew with every new child, my fifth sibling was another girl. My father was so loving towards us but when they announced the birth of another girl he left the room. I had become aware of our growing issue, with no boy to fill the throne a male from another kingdom would get married into our kingdom giving the male's kingdom power over us. The tension left by the incident burst a few weeks later when the medical staff said that my mother, the queen, was unable to have another baby safely. Or it would risk her life along with the baby's if she got pregnant again. This caused incredible gaps between my parents. Now without a proper heir, our father and mother looked to marry me off to another kingdom. But all the neighboring kingdoms had no heirs. This is where the big problem started. When the issue of all the kingdoms having only princesses arose, the realization of the new configuration of the countries became clear. There would need to be two female leaders within the kingdoms. The light realm wanted to keep our trade because of the pure fact they had survived upon it for so long. They bribed our family with gifts of all kinds of magnitude. From unimaginable amounts of gold to so many different resources. But my family still had some dignity and turned them away. We needed to keep up our trade and peace with the dark realm. The dark realm provided us with so much. But the light realm and the dark realm had a fude. Neither side liked the other, they had almost no trade with each other, and our trade was important to them. After the battle the grief that both the countries had felt seemed to live on within its people. Unlike the peaceful ways our kingdom had turned to they had grown ever deeper into preparation for when the other finally attacked. We had to choose and the outcomes were we would start a war or lose our kingdom. So, for the longest time we did our best to try and push it off but the future became even more clear, and our family had to make a decision soon. Slowly the light realm started to cut off trade with us beginning to become more self-sustaining. Without their trade, we started to become weaker as a nation running out of important goods. Due to the way our kingdom is built, consistingbuilt consisting mainly ofof mainly mountains, we reliedmountains we relied so heavily on trade to support our people. We turned to the dark realm for assistance with hopes of more trade. But they refused our call for help instead they made an offer we couldn't accept. If they were going to help us we needed to give something to them in exchange for their goods. The price was high so we put it off and tried to make it work with what we had begunbeginning to make more fields to grow crops and increase our livestock. We lasted another two years but then our people started to fuss and complain about the lack of food and machinery. Once again we went back to the dark realm for help but this time the price was higher. The price was me.
