Chapter 2960: When Night Falls (42)_2

That is to say, it wasn't that the King of Vampires hadn't considered the consequences of infinite expansion, but to combat these rogue vampires who were sent from the future, they had to expand like this.

This also explained one of Constantine's questions, which was why Mary's plan for the pure-blooded vampires wasn't ready yet. The King of Vampires existed, but he hadn't yet combined with a spouse to dilute the bloodline. Given the wise and capable offspring that Mary wanted, how could she allow the King of Vampires to cause such a commotion?

This vampire disaster brought no benefits to Mary. Such significant movements would surely draw the attention of the Justice League. The current King of Vampires was merely transitional, far from the real Magic King, who'd inherit countless rights through bloodlines that Mary envisioned. It wasn't starting the champagne at halftime, it was popping the champagne before the starting gun had even fired.

And for Mary, who had absolute control over the King of Vampires, it was nearly impossible that she'd make such a decision willingly; that is, she too was forced into this situation.

Mary was probably very frustrated. From where did these completely untraceable and uncontrollable vampires come???

Finding this tactic effective, Constantine simply activated the members of the Justice League Dark to capture these vampires, making the past warfare conditions increasingly intense.

This significantly relieved the current superheroes' security pressure because with these newborn vampires gone, the rate of vampire expansion notably slowed down. Martian Manhunter in charge of the Justice League quickly found that the spread of vampires was being controlled.

Moments later, the Justice League's top three were jointly battling the vampire monster. Because it could use Shadow Magic, Superman's attacks, as the Avatar of the Sun, were ineffective; they still had to use traditional methods, which meant surrounding from three sides.

It wasn't just three sides, though; Arkham Knight and Doctor Strange quickly recovered and joined the fray. Under the onslaught of five, the monster soon became heavily wounded.

Before long, Batman successfully set a trap and tripped the monster. Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth whooshed out and bound the monster's sturdy arms, and Superman's laser cut off most of the monster's body.

The huge vampire monster howled as it fell, its Magic Power began to dissipate, and its life force gradually weakened. Doctor Strange, using his last energy, summoned the dead vampire monster back.

Having essentially delegated his duties to his Justice League Dark colleagues, Constantine told Batman about Mary. With the aid of the vampire monster, Batman would naturally ensure this foolish and arrogant woman met her downfall.

But Constantine wasn't idle; he and Shiller still had one last task to complete, which was to find the true King of Vampires, who had always remained hidden behind the scenes.

Shiller hadn't forgotten that there was still a mole within the Batman Family, and as expected, he should be the so-called King of Vampires.

On the way back to Wayne Manor with Constantine, Shiller recounted all previous details, and he soon identified the target.

"Do you have a plan to deal with him?" Constantine asked.

Shiller shook his head, saying, "We don't need any plan. As long as we can identify the suspect and present evidence, handing everything over to Alfred, the old Butler will naturally handle it."

"Who do you think it is?"

"There's a noteworthy detail." Shiller's fingers gently tapped the back of his hand, saying, "The other time I broke into the Batcave, Cassandra was locked out of the Batcave door."

"So?"

"Batman wouldn't design the security system so foolishly unless someone wanted to delay Cassandra, the strongest fighter among the Robins, to make the vampire invasion of the Batcave successful."

"But he didn't know it was actually you breaking in."

"Exactly. So when he realized something was wrong, he let Cassandra in."

"Lousy with errors."

"Yes. Accessing the security system logs from that time will clearly show who was involved."

Constantine already had the answer in his mind.

When Barbara was captured, Dick just sighed inwardly.

"So you are the King of Vampires, and he..." Constantine turned his head to Dick and said, "Is he the mate Mary prepared for you?"

Barbara's eyes emitted a red glow, neither confirming nor denying, while Shiller gently shook his head and said, "Fortunately, because Mary was worried about a repeat of the last tragedy, she intentionally sent a vampire with a diluted bloodline to convert Dick, to dilute your bloodline."

Because of the diluted bloodline, he was not so mad to begin with. After I pulled out his fangs, he mostly came to his senses. Otherwise, if something had happened to Batman's eldest son, you and your mother would likely have faced calamity."

Gordon, who arrived in a hurry, could hardly believe the scene before him. He said, "How could Barbara be here? Is there some misunderstanding?!

"I think you're the one who is mistaken," Constantine said. "Have you done a paternity test? Are you sure she is your biological daughter?"

Gordon was stunned by the question—after all, who would suddenly doubt this and then go for a paternity test?

Shiller then looked at Dick and asked, "Now can you tell us? What allows you to move freely in the sunlight?"

Dick sighed deeply and hung his head, saying, "I drank someone's blood."

"Who?"

"Starfire, but I know she is not Starfire."

"Then who is she?"

"She's Barbara Gordon," a voice said. A nimble figure with fiery red hair jumped in through the window.

"Starfire?" Jason called out her name.

"You can call me that, but I am the real Barbara Gordon. I was switched with the one you see tied up here as a baby. Knowing this, I chose to use Starfire as a pseudonym, staying incognito among you."

The red-haired woman removed her mask, revealing a face familiar to the Teen Titans as Starfire's, but now it clearly resembled James Gordon more than the bound red-haired woman did.

Then she threw out a storage device, saying, "I've been keeping an eye on her. Take a look at this."

The old butler connected the storage device to the television screen, and soon, the truth was unveiled before everyone.

A few months ago, The Flash came looking for Batman in a panic, looking very ragged and frightened as if someone was chasing him.

But at that time, Batman was investigating the vampire outbreak in Gotham City. The Flash, finding Batman absent and feeling dejected about leaving, was approached by Barbara who spoke a few words to him.

The Flash, seeming in a hurry, asked Barbara to let him into the Batcave to take refuge. Barbara pretended to agree and led him to the entrance of the Batcave but released a gas in the decontamination room that knocked him out and turned him into a vampire.

Oddly enough, in the last scene on the screen, it seemed like there were two Vampire Flashes, where one flashed and then disappeared.

Another video showed Zan from the Magic Twins about to return to his room, but Green Lantern stopped him, hoping he could patrol in place of The Flash. Zan, though puzzled, still went.

As he neared Gotham, his patrol spacecraft suddenly received an urgent command to head immediately to Wayne Manor. Zan didn't understand why, but worried Batman was in trouble, he quickly went but encountered not Batman, but Barbara with glowing red eyes.

Although many mysteries remained unsolved, the identity of the King of Vampires was undoubted.

Now, there was only one thing left for everyone to do—thoroughly resolve the situation with the Vampire Flash and rescue Green Lantern, who had been abducted by him.
