Chapter 3714 Evil Strength (15)

Originally, Shiller's routine was quite normal, but it turned abnormal after finishing the movie because he had to avoid fans and reporters. Most normal people would come and go during the day, not stay here overnight. To avoid them, Shiller was forced to operate nocturnally.

Lately, the unusual behaviors observed by the nurses and caretakers in Shiller were actually because Shiller was already Mephisto then.

As the saying goes, "Psychology is something you might not excel at even after learning it, but definitely won't succeed without it." Although Mephisto could judge basic emotions, he clearly didn't understand mental illness, and of course, couldn't handle a myriad of mental patients smoothly.

Moreover, Shiller had been staying in the sanatorium, and he didn't constantly keep up his disguise in daily life. Occasionally, he would reveal his true self. Just like Arrogant and his students, those who couldn't stand it or were afraid had long fled, leaving those who were somewhat extraordinary.

They accepted Shiller's occasional displays of abnormality well, even feeling that was his normal state. Hence, Mephisto's portrayal of Shiller being too normal actually made them feel abnormal.

Eddie dragged a material out of another folder, saying, "I've watched all these short videos you sent me. I find this one quite good, with an eerie and thrilling atmosphere. But you must ensure you've obtained her personal consent, otherwise, you might get sued after the movie releases."

"Don't worry." Shiller nodded, looking at the screen.

"I don't know how to say this, folks... Yes, I won't update content related to psychological first aid today. What I want to talk about is what's been happening in my life recently. You all know I work in a sanatorium, right? In the suburbs of a big city, beautiful environment, not hard work, decent salary. I know many of you envy me..."

In a vertical short video, a blonde woman sits in a car, filming herself with a phone.

"But recently, things haven't been so great. I really feel it's quite weird, so I need to share this with you." She glances out the car window.

"Our director is a good person, kind and professional, always able to get along with patients, and has good relations with the nurses too. There are two people in our department who like him; of course, I think those two little bitches are just attracted by his looks..."

"I digressed. Yes, our director is handsome, but that's not the point. The point is he's been acting very weird lately, almost turning the entire sanatorium upside down. He can't even stay in the same room with a patient for ten minutes— can you imagine? The patient would become agitated, and several of us couldn't hold him down. It wasn't like this at all before..."

"If it were just increased workload, it'd be one thing, but the hospital has started having strange rumors. You know, every psychiatric hospital has them, like ghost stories... which are totally ridiculous. I really can't believe a professional psychiatrist would believe this kind of thing." The woman looks outside the window again.

"Well, anyway, I just wanted to tell you that my life isn't as good as you imagine. Dealing with a bunch of psychiatric patients isn't that easy. My salary is well-deserved. But considering the current situation, I think I might..."

The car window suddenly gets knocked on, and the woman, puzzled, lowers her phone. Then, a familiar face appears outside the car window— it's Shiller, with grey eyes staring intently into the car.

"Oh, God!"

The video ends here. Peter, who had his chin resting on the front seatback, was hit in the nose by Steve who jolted backward, bringing tears to his eyes.

"Ah... my nose..."

"Oh my, sorry, Peter." Steve hurriedly said, "I didn't mean to, I just got startled."

He was clearly still a bit uneasy, sighed, and said to Shiller, "You were right to act in a horror movie, Doctor, this is really kind of scary."

"You... you're really a coward." Although Stark's speech was a bit slurred, he still didn't forget to show off in this regard.

Natasha then covered her forehead, saying, "This is more terrifying than that jump scare before. Doctor, you should really reflect on yourself, since this scene was in broad daylight, and not even so bloody, no screams or shrieks, yet just seeing your face is frightening."

"Isn't the scariest thing getting caught making a short video by your boss during work hours?" Shiller asked.

"Well, that's clearly not during work hours, right?" Strange frowned and said, "She's not wearing a uniform, her hair is down, what nurse dresses like this during work hours?"

Shiller said nothing, and Strange smugly laughed, saying, "You can't fool me, this is obviously off-duty time."

Meanwhile, the film critics also started whispering, but evidently, their focus was somewhat different.

"Isn't that Rania? She's an influencer with over 600,000 followers on TikTok, didn't expect her to act in this film."

"Let me see... Oh my, she does have an account. She's actually a nurse, or did she update some nurse content for acting?"

"She is actually a nurse, seems to be working in this sanatorium too. Maybe the director wanted to enhance the authenticity of the pseudo-documentary feel, so filmed a video with her."

"That's quite creative. That ending shot is indeed pretty scary, at least it's thrilling enough."

"Time's almost up, next should be the climax of the plot. Do you have any popcorn left? Share some with me..."

"I'm afraid we have to subdue him," Danny said. "I had some dealings with him before, so if it's a mistake, we can explain. But if it really is him, we might have to give it our all."

"I brought this back from the Vatican," Shiller took out something from his bag, a long nail wrapped in plastic wrap. He looked at Danny and Johnny and said, "Back then, thirteen nails were prepared to crucify Jesus, but not all were used. This is one of them, the Vatican kept it, and it can send any devils back to Hell."

Danny took the nail from his hand and immediately felt an extraordinary power, the flames already starting to burn in his eyes. The Spirit of Revenge had never been this delighted.

"What we need to do is drive this nail into his body. Once he reveals his true demonic form, the two of you can judge him."

Danny and Johnny exchanged a glance. Danny nodded and said, "I have sufficient strength, so I'll deliver the final blow. You two engage him head-on and try to hold him off until he shows a flaw."

The group arrived at the office door of the Dean. Johnny pushed the door open and saw Mephisto standing by the window. Seeing Mephisto turn around, Johnny looked at him and said, "We have some questions for you, Doctor."

"What's wrong? What's the issue?"

Johnny recounted all of Mephisto's suspicious points and then said, "Sorry, Doctor, but I'm afraid we have to use this method to confirm whether or not you are a devil."

"That's utterly ridiculous," Mephisto said, frowning. "I invited you two here, and now you suspect I'm a devil? If I were a devil, why would I invite you here?"

"No need to argue," Johnny shook his head and said, "The only way to prove your innocence is to touch that nail. Are you scared?"

"I don't have time to play these supernatural games with you. I have work to do, please leave immediately."

Before he finished speaking, flames surged in Johnny's eyes, chains appeared in an instant, and shot toward Mephisto. Mephisto dodged sideways, but Danny had already jumped in through the window, holding the nail, aiming for his shoulder.

Mephisto awkwardly dodged, but his shoulder was grazed, and instead of blood, hell ash spilled out from the wound.

"You betrayed me, Ghost Rider," a terrifying low voice like it came from the depths of Hell sounded.

Mephisto's appearance began to change, gradually transforming into the devil Shiller's form. He stopped pretending, his arms covered in black markings reaching for Danny.

But Johnny dashed forward and slammed him onto the desk behind him. Mephisto cried out in pain but quickly turned into ashes and drifted behind the two of them.

"You must pay the price for this," Mephisto clawed at Johnny, who was lying on the ground, unable to dodge, and was caught by an inexplicable force, flying toward Mephisto.

The arm pierced through his chest, and the blood that splattered painted Danny's face with an expression of shock and rage.

"Brother!!!"

Danny roared, charging forward, flames blazing intensely all over him. The power of the Spirit of Revenge burned ever stronger in Danny's unbeatable fury. He punched Mephisto down and then drove the nail through his chest.

Mephisto let out a painful roar, his entire being gradually turning into hell's ashes. But just as he was about to disappear, he turned to look in one direction, his eyes filled with shock.

There stood Shiller, not Naog Sokhup, but Schiller Rodriguez.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but his body had completely turned into hell's ashes, disappearing entirely in the room.

"Well done, Danny." The voice that belonged to Shiller resounded in the room. Danny, holding the nail, turned his head, frozen upon seeing Shiller.

"You... you..." He was too shocked to speak.

"It's me." Shiller smiled with his original appearance and said, "You want to know what's going on, don't you? It all started from the beginning. Two years ago, I visited the former Ghost Rider, Carter Slade. He told me the Spirit of Revenge had chosen a new master, and that was you, Danny."

"But your mind was too cluttered, never knowing what you truly wanted, unable to fully unleash the power of the Spirit of Revenge. The Spirit of Revenge needed my help, so, I came to you..."

Shiller's voice began to grow weaker. A sentence Carter had once said in the Tomb Guardian's cabin echoed like a narrator:

"The Ghost Rider is the bane of sin, as long as there is sin, the flames of the Ghost Rider will never die."

In Johnny's eyes, lying on the ground, Shiller's image was reflected, the once faint flame in his pupils suddenly burned fiercely again.
