Chapter 3716 Evil Strength (17)

"I can't believe the sanatorium is moving. I remember it was just renovated not long ago?" Danny said to the movers.

"Yes, it's just been renovated. And because of that, it can sell for a good price, especially after the movie became a hit. It's worth much more than when I bought the place."

"It's a nice environment here, what a shame." Danny shook his head.

"Yes. But if the new sanatorium is just a mile from Central Park, New York, it's still acceptable."

Danny's eyes widened, "The new address of the sanatorium is only a mile from Central Park, New York?! God damn it! How much does that cost?!!"

"Not much." Shiller waved his hand modestly, "The sanatorium sold for a good price, the new movie made a small profit, and with my savings, it's completely enough."

"You're really rich." Danny said, "The movie's box office gave us quite a bit, and it's still enough to buy land in the Manhattan Area. But this is good, I was just planning to find a job in the Manhattan Area, so it's much closer."

"That's right. It's because quite a few patients told me that the sanatorium's location is too remote, it's inconvenient for frequent visits, and it's also inconvenient for me to go to work at S.H.I.E.L.D. So I thought about making a movie to promote the sanatorium and then find someone to take it over, and buy a better piece of land to move."

What Shiller said is true. But what he didn't mention is that after "Shock" became a hit, this place turned into a tourist hotspot. Now, besides fan reporters, there are tourists, which is completely unsatisfactory for the sanatorium's need for a quiet recovery environment.

Another reason is that the sanatorium is surrounded by residential areas, mostly wealthy mansions. Previously, as a regular sanatorium that just needed to fulfill social and recuperation functions, there wasn't a problem. But now, the sanatorium has taken on some mental patients which can't be satisfied here.

Firstly, most qualified healthcare personnel are unwilling to come work in such a remote place, especially professional psychiatric doctors. If they can choose a hospital in New York City, they absolutely won't choose this place, even if the employment conditions here are better, they still don't want to come to this remote suburban area. This leads to a lack of doctors, most patients are taken care of by Shiller himself. He really is a bit overwhelmed.

Secondly, whether it's buying medicine or medical equipment, it's very troublesome to transport them here. Psychiatric medications and testing equipment are distributed at the medical company's distribution center in New York, and the company's distribution points are all in the city center, and they can't be sent by civil Flying Shuttle but must use professional logistics air tracks. But the nearest air transportation hub from here is about six miles away. To get medicine, Shiller even had to buy a truck and hire a driver, it's really troublesome.

Also, it's Shiller's misjudgment of the sanatorium's renovation style which led to him needing to hire a whole sixteen gardeners to manage the vast amount of plants in the sanatorium. Those precious plants from around the world, especially those from the tropics, will die on you if you dare to miss watering them. There's no Pamela in the Marvel World to act as a walking plant life support, handling this greenery and plants is really exhausting.

Considering these factors, Shiller decided to sell the sanatorium. Just in time to take advantage of the current popularity, sell it to real estate developers and make a fortune, and combined with the movie's box office earnings and his savings, he can buy a plot in the Manhattan Area.

Yes, the movie was almost cost-free, just pure profit. The land popularity was quite high, and it sold for a high price. It still requires Shiller to use a large portion of his savings to afford land near Central Park, New York. This can no longer be called expensive, real estate developers could clearly just grab it, but he still gave you a piece of land.

The new plot is slightly smaller than the current one, but considering Manhattan's crowdedness, this is already quite an achievement. This plot originally had a hotel, which has a nine-story building that can be used as a sanatorium, offering views of Central Park, New York. There's also a nice backyard for patient activities.

The hotel is an estate-style building, with a main building in reddish-brown, using some English manor-style decorations, but overall quite simple. It's less than ten years old, and its interiors are spacious and bright in a largely American style. The layout is fairly reasonable, just need minor modifications to meet treatment and recuperation needs.

Most importantly, you can walk a few minutes directly into Central Park. No place in New York has better air quality than Central Park, New York. Shiller, sitting in his new office, can noticeably feel the oxygen level here is higher than around the original sanatorium. Because there's a sizable lake in Central Park, the air is also more humid, better for the respiratory system.

And from here, it's not far whether going to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Stark Building, or to The Sanctum.

"Welcome to New York." At the relocation banquet, Stark patted Shiller's shoulder and said, "You've finally decided to end your bumpkin life and become a true city dweller. Congratulations."

Strange, standing nearby, rolled his eyes and said, "For you, any place outside the Manhattan Area is the countryside, right?"

"Come on, anything beyond ten miles from Stark Building doesn't have any civilized urban culture." Stark said with a smirk, "Where the cheese burgers don't even bother using butter to fry the beef, what more can you expect?"

"This location is indeed nice." Nick said, "And it's not far from Central Park's Flying Shuttle station, convenient transport."

"Did you hear? They're promoting private flying cars in China, using solar power. When do you think we'll roll that out here?" Stark said while holding a glass of wine, "Americans should have the best, but Congress is always playing the devil's advocate!"

"It's not as simple as you think." Steve said, taking a cup of yogurt from a nearby waiter, "Our traffic control here is too lax, private cars flying everywhere would endanger Flying Shuttles and planes."

"Of course you have to set height limits." Stark continued, "Using technology to differentiate various flying levels, even if drivers wanted to deliberately stray, the cars would be unable to. That should work."

"It has to be intelligent driving," Peter peeked his head over and said, "Our side isn't even as advanced as Europe in intelligent driving technology, and the ethical issues are a problem too. In Congress, you can't expect it to pass without dozens of rounds of free fighting."

Stark sighed and said, "Anyway, I absolutely can't let America fall behind. I'll go back and study intelligent driving, even if I can't put a JARVIS in every car, the most basic type of artificial intelligence isn't difficult..."

When Wanda came over, Shiller was at the cheese counter picking cheese. He glanced at Wanda and then said, "Oh, ma'am, you're looking more radiant lately. Good news?"

Wanda immediately flashed a brilliant smile and said, "I'm pregnant again! I'm sure it's a girl this time! I'm going to have a daughter!"

Shiller looked at her with some surprise and said, "You're pregnant again?"

"Yes, this is the last time. JARVIS and I think three children are about enough. Then we'll have two dogs and buy a car." Wanda happily shook her arms in front of her, then said, "I've been performing very well during my internship period, and I'll be able to become a full-time employee soon. Then with JARVIS and my combined income, we should be able to buy a bigger and better house..."

"With all due respect, ma'am, working in the emergency room while pregnant might not be very wise..."

"Oh, come on, I'm not just any ordinary pregnant woman." Wanda shrugged and said, "I knew the assessment period during the internship might be very busy, so I plan to pause my pregnancy. My little princess might have to stay in my belly for two more months, and after I'm done with this busy period, I'll let the embryo continue to develop. No delay at all."

What else could Shiller say? He could only give Wanda a thumbs up and wish her smooth work and life.

"By the way, have you decided on a name for your daughter?" Shiller asked.

"How about Isabel? She'll definitely be a beautiful girl, and she might share the same nickname as the cute little shark."

"You mean Isha?"

"Yes, that's already Isabel's nickname. Isha says her full name is Elizabeth; I don't know what her parents were thinking," Wanda said. "But I think Isha will be happy to have a sister with a name just like hers. How's she doing lately?"

"Completely wild," Shiller recalled, "She made two new friends, went skiing together last winter, ate all the Christmas candies within three days, and successfully sent herself to the dentist."

Wanda laughed heartily, then said, "Oh, right, I'm planning to get a puppy. What breed do you think is good? Nelson has a Welsh Corgi, which is hilariously ridiculous. I want to get a gentle puppy too, and when I have experience, I'll consider a large dog."

"Then maybe a Teddy? No, the Teddy's bark is a bit sharp, a Schnauzer might be nice. Or maybe a Papillon..."

"Hey!" Pikachu jumped onto the table, flicking his lightning tail, and said, "When exactly are you going to get rid of that furry monster with tentacles coming out of its mouth? It's looking at me weirder and weirder!"

"You mean Gugu?" Shiller asked, "That depends on when Captain Marvel comes to take it away. And you actually have the nerve to call others a furry monster, it's the first time I've heard of a mouse that sheds!"

"My fur is much shorter than its."

"But just as hard to clean." Shiller shook his head and said to Wanda, "I suggest you might want to hold off on getting a dog, when your little furry monsters at home grow up, you'll be busy enough."

"That's true, JARVIS often complains about too much cat hair at home. The vents on his computer and home-style servers are all clogged up. If only there were a fur-less yet equally cute pet in this world."

"Hey, Doctor." Peter tapped Shiller on the shoulder from behind and said, "Tony invited me to study intelligent driving and flying cars together. I might be going to Stark Building a lot recently. But I can't stand the sleeping pods there, can I stay at the new sanatorium for a few days?"

"Excellent! Buddy!" Pikachu cheered first and said, "We can join forces to drive that wicked furry monster away!"

Peter and Pikachu high-fived, then reached out to lift him up and said, "Let's go pack our things first, Doctor. Send me the room number, and I'll check-in myself."

Shiller nodded and watched the two of them walk out the door.
