Chapter 68: Restored

I grunted in pain as Eliad continued his torture. Carving his hot knife through my skin and enjoyed seeing me writhe in suffering.

"Is this the end of me?" I said in my thoughts, looking at the irony of my arrogance earlier.

I guess it's time for me to pray, maybe the gods of the pantheon may hear me. I suddenly began to murmur my prayers, sounding like a hum. Hearing this my torturers were amused at me.

"I never thought you were a believer. Even if you pray to your gods, I will never provide you comfort or freedom." Eliad mocked at me, followed by the laughs of his companions.

"Deliver me from this life, o gods!" George jeered, crossing his arms while looking at me.

I shouted my prayers and replied, "O gods, deliver me from the short and tall devils. Grant me safety and protection from their harmful ways!"
