Ambush Goes Wrong

Caleb Li reacted quickly, jumping to the side and narrowly avoiding the deadly beast by an inch. Standing in his previous position was a two-meter beast with a sharp horn: the Shadow Warthog.

The Shadow Warthog, a formidable creature with dark, mottled fur and gleaming, razor-sharp tusks, stood imposingly in Caleb Li's path.

Towering at a height of two meters, its muscular frame exuded a palpable aura of menace.

With its sinister crimson eyes fixed intently on Caleb, the Shadow Warthog emitted a low, guttural growl, the sound reverberating through the eerie silence of the forest.

Its horn, honed to a deadly point, glistened menacingly in the dim light filtering through the dense canopy overhead.

As Caleb Li scrambled to his feet, his heart pounding with adrenaline, he met the Shadow Warthog's gaze with unwavering resolve.

This was no ordinary beast; it was a Rank-1 Beast, a creature of unparalleled strength and ferocity.

Glaring at each other, the beast and the human locked gaze, each preparing for their attack.

Suddenly, a guttural growl emanated from the Shadow Warthog, and it made a mad dash toward him.

Its speed was exceedingly fast, impossible for the eyes to follow. Caleb Li's hair stood on end, and he reacted based on instinct.

He nocked his bow with an arrow and released it.

Whoosh!

The arrow sailed with powerful momentum toward its target's forehead. When it was only a couple of inches from the target, the beast made a shocking maneuver to the side.

"What the…" He gasped in astonishment.

The Shadow Warthog easily dodged the arrow and pounced on him. Without thinking twice, he retreated quickly.

As an archer, he was a long-range fighter; therefore, there must be a considerable distance between him and his target.

Meanwhile, the Shadow Warthog was furious from the previous attack and didn't intend to let its prey escape.

Its speed increased, closing the distance between them, but it was met with another deadly arrow.

Like before, it dodged the arrow and prepared to continue its chase, only to be met with another arrow from its blindside.

Bang!

The arrow connected with its body and entered its thick fur but couldn't penetrate deep into its body.

From the Shadow Warthog, a painful guttural howl escaped its mouth as it stopped momentarily.

As for Caleb Li, he had increased the distance between them to 20 meters and came to a stop.

His previous attack was to slow down the speed of the Shadow Warthog, and it worked.

Now, with a space of 20 meters between them, he regained his confidence. He nocked his bowstring and pulled it to the limit.

In the distance, the Shadow Warthog had recovered and was dashing toward him with fury.

Taking the stance of the Whispering Wind Technique, he held the bowstring calmly, waiting patiently.

His mastery over the Whispering Wind Technique had reached the Greater Success, and that was no small feat.

When the Shadow Warthog crossed the 10-meter mark, he let go of the arrow.

Wrapped in the gentle wind, the arrow sailed with a calm ferocity. In a blink, it arrived before the Shadow Warthog.

The beast didn't even sense the arrival of the attack until it was only a fraction of inches from its head.

It only let out a guttural sound before the arrow hit its head.

Bang!

This time, it was not luck.

The arrow went deep into its skull. The Shadow Warthog only took two more steps before it fell to the ground. Dead.

Looking at the dead beast, a bright smile crept up on his face. He calmly made his way toward the beast to record it on his bracelet.

Halfway to the beast, three students jumped out from their hiding and attacked him.

Each of them held a sword, and on their faces was an evil smile.

"Thank you for your generous gift," the boy in the front said with a devilish grin.

Caleb Li wasn't flustered by their appearance. Their lousy ambush didn't escape his perception when he was dealing with the beast, but he didn't care about them.

Two of them were Rank-5 Mortal Warriors, while the last one was a Rank-4 Mortal Warrior. To him, they were nothing.

"Get out of my way," he commanded coldly.

"What!" the boy, who was the leader of the ambush, feigned a surprised expression, "I'm scared. I'm scared, please don't hurt me."

Hahaha

His two other friends burst into hysterical laughter.

This was the first time they had ambushed other students from other schools, and they had succeeded.

Their targets were the weak, unknown students. And now, Caleb Li was their new prey.

Just as they were reveling in the excitement of their new prey, Caleb Li sprung to action.

He jumped and attacked the boy closer to him. His fist traveled at breathtaking speed, appearing before him.

The boy only saw a blurry image before the fist connected with his guts.

Bang!

A miserable scream echoed from his mouth with a mouthful of blood splashing out. He leaned against a thick tree, and the sound of his bones breaking echoed.

His other two friends were stunned; they didn't expect such a ruthless response from Caleb Li.

Most of their targets would be scared when they ambushed them and plead for their lives.

Recovering from their shock, the boy who was the leader was furious and jumped toward him, swinging his sword, going for a kill. So he thought.

Using the Shadow Steps movement skill, Caleb Li disappeared from his spot, leaving a gust of wind in his wake, and appeared before the last boy.

"What!" the boy could only mutter before a powerful punch connected to his neck.

Crack!

His neck broke, and he was sent flying. He crashed to the ground and whimpered before he stopped breathing.

As for the boy, their leader, he froze in his spot when he realized he didn't even see how his target moved. When he turned his head, he saw Caleb Li staring directly into his eyes.

Gasped!

He jumped back in fright, and his face paled. They'd kicked an iron plate. He trembled, and his legs almost gave in to his weight.

His back drenched in cold sweat, and his lips trembled. His heart pounded heavily against his chest, wanting to jump out and escape.

"Now, give me all your points," Caleb Li demanded calmly.
