Gain or Loss?!

Amara, with her parents and friends, got seated for the dinner.

It was funny when she denied Sarah from sitting beside her. Sarah gave her a side eye, finally settling beside Ralph.

Well, what could she do, for, the immortal was sitting right beside her!!

Amara heard him chuckle, for which she shook her head.

They had a pleasant meal together, the couple appreciating the efforts, affection and love the children showed in preparing the dinner.

Sarah and Ralph shortly left later, the couple leaving behind Amara, to take some rest finally after the tight schedule.

Amara with a sigh, stood up, getting into the kitchen only to be back with a plate of a piece of cake.

"You can appear!!" Amara gently placed the plate on the table before taking back her seat.

"And what's this?" Zamiel who is visible now, questioned.

"I promised to save some for you!!" She shrugged, pushing the plate gently towards him.

Zamiel smiled, "Can we share?!" he asked hesitatingly.

Amara watched him thoughtfully, before grabbing another spoon, "We can!!"

Zamiel smiled again.

As they shared the cake, Zamiel reminded her that, she can now travel back to present at any time, for her time here is running out.

Amara felt the bothering sensation settling within her again, however, the happiness she was gifted till now was, somehow assuring.

She just nodded at his reminder, however, her wonderment peaked as she had her last bite. "You don't like it, do you?"

Zamiel gave her an uncertain stare.

"The cake?" She added.

He chuckled, "I do not like sweets!"

Amara nodded understandingly, "Why didn't you say it ahead then?"

He shrugged, placing back the spoon in the plate before looking back at her, "So I can share it with you."

Amara blinked, to share?

A blush crept over her and, she looked away, "Dinner?"

Zamiel shook his head, "I'm fine with just the cake!"

She sighed, he really doesn't eat perhaps.

After Zamiel leaving, Amara went to her parents' room, settling in the couch, watching over them. Time felt at pause for her as she sat there in silence.

The recent days memories swirling in her head.

How she travelled back in time, how she felt her parents' presence again, that hug! Those million chatterings, giggles, laughters, valuable conversations.

Those moments she spent with them in the hospital.

Finally, the anniversary celebration.

One week, it was strange, that she felt it being too long yet too short, both, at the same time.

Her thoughts wandered back to the immortal again.

Zamiel.

Or....Daniel?

Amara chuckled, his sudden arrival, a blessing indeed.

She still was curious about all those unanswered questions of why did he help her, how did he know about her and her family, and all.

However, she reassured herself that, he will say her everything she needs to know, once everything settles.

Her gaze settled on her parents again, as she leaned back in her seat, adjusting her pillow.

"Mother. Father. Please do not leave me again!" She whispered low, "I request. Not again!!"

************

The morning sunrays woke Amara up, the birds chirping from the garden, reaching her ears. As her eyes slowly became open, her gaze settled on her parents, who were still peacefully asleep.

Getting up, rubbing her eyes, she reached them, watching them from close. She almost felt the urge to caress her parents' hair, however, she held back, stepping out of the room.

With a yawn, she ascended to her own room, washing her face. Her hands which were searching for a towel in the closet, soon rested on the box, her gaze lingering on it.

The wait was somehow bothering yet assuring!!

With a sigh, she was about to remove her hands from it. However, Amara noticed her surroundings changing, her room glitching, her own body, glitching.

She couldn't explain what and why but the confusion only strengthened her grip over the box, the thought of her parents constantly being reminded by herself at the back of her mind.

She didn't know what happened, and the next moment, Amara shot her eyes open with a loud gasp. Her heart pumping faster and faster, her gaze unsettling as she kept searching for the unknown.

Realising herself being laid in her own bed, worry took over her, her with another gasp pushing herself up. Her gaze wandered around her room, realisation hitting her that, she had, travelled back!! Her eyes finally settling over her hand, which held the box firm.

Oh, she did come back.

Her eyes widened, and with no other thoughts, leaving the box behind, Amara rushed down the stairs. Witnessing her parents' room being closed, and everything about the house being changed, the realisation only had strengthened its roots within her.

Her hands halted at the knob, her fingers that were settled on it hesitating.

Finally, after a brief moment, Amara shutting her eyes, with a sigh, attempted to open the door.

The door creaked open, silencing the silence for a moment.

Amara however dared not to open her eyes. Her heartbeat reverberating in her own ears.

'.....there's nothing wrong with what you are asking for,' Zamiel's voice echoed.

Yes, there was nothing wrong.

'Nothing wrong!!' She whispered clutching the necklace, nothing ever wrong!! With a deep breath, Amara slowly and steadily opened her eyes, however, the scene ahead, shattered her heart into million pieces!!

The room, was empty. Ominously silent and empty!!

Tears swirled in her eyes, her grip tightening over the necklace. With a sob escaping, Amara lost her balance as she fell down to the floor, crying, clutching her chest.

She shut her eyes tightly as if wanting to escape the reality, tears constantly streaming down her cheeks. Her sobs an echo around the whole house.

She.....lost them again?!

Why???

She doesn't deserve this!!

She doesn't... deserve this!!!

She doesn't...

The morning sun rays hit her suddenly, forcing her to open her eyes. With a sniff, she looked ahead, and, her breath took a halt at the scene.

Her parents, asleep on their bed.

Her breath felt suffocated out of all the crying and with a gasp, she inhaled deep, her eyes completely focused on her parents.

Her heartbeat at no steady.

Her thought process going numb.

Her grip over her dress tightening, she didn't lose them!!

Did she?

She shook her head, she didn't!!

She didn't.....!!

"Amara?" A gentle voice reached her from behind, making her look back.

There he stood, tall and high!

With no other thoughts, Amara got on her feet, rushing towards him.

Embracing him with a cry.

Zamiel hugged her back, stroking her hair, consoling her as she cried again.

"They're....back right?" Amara's voice broke, as she questioned him, clutching his shirt.

Pulling herself slightly away, looking up at him, "Tell me Zamiel, tell me that they are back! Tell me....that they won't leave me again!!"

He with an assuring smile, cupped her face, nodding in slow, "Yes," he wiped her tears, her gaze fixed on his, "they are back, and won't leave you again!!"

She brokedown at it, the confirmation only weakening her more, more tears cascading down her eyes.

Zamiel pulled her back into an embrace, stroking her back, patting on her head, "Everything is okay now, please don't cry!"

She shook her head, "Thank you.... Zamiel!!"

"Thank you, very much!!"

With a caress on her hair, he gently pushed her away, adjusting her hair which was now sticking to her face by tears! "Are you happy?!"

She with a sniff shook her head, "I'm the most happiest person in the world right now, Zamiel!!"

He smiled, wiping away her tears again, "That makes me happy!!"

She smiled through tear stained eyes.

Zamiel looked at her parents' room briefly before looking back at her, "They don't know anything Amara," he said softly, cupping her cheek, "the past two years, it means nothing to them for they never experienced it!!"

Amara looked into his eyes, his thumb caressing her cheek.

"It's your responsibility to tell them!"

A lump settled in her heart.

"Will they believe me?"

Zamiel nodded, "Trust me, they will!!"

Amara with another sniff, looked down, alredy finding it hard to say them. What would she even say?! How?!

"Amara?"

His soft call made her look up again, in a questioning way.

"It's time for me to leave!!" He said.

Her eyes searched his, a sense of worry and concern washing over her, leave? "Where...?"

"I need to go!" He said instead, hesitatingly.

She looked away, a momentary silence being carried away.

"Are you.....leaving cause, it's all done now?"

Zamiel shook his head, gently turning her face towards him, "I will come back, Amara!" he assured. "Moreover, I have things to explain!!"

"And you have things to know!!"

"I cannot....leave yet!!"

Amara watched him in silence, his every word echoing. "I will be waiting!!" She managed to whisper, not knowing what else to say.

Zamiel smiled in relief, "I will come back soon!" he said with a nod, stepping closer as he planted a soft kiss on her forehead, surprising her.

Her heart skipping a beat again, her eyes widening!

"See you soon, Amara!" He wished as he stepped away, caressing her hair for one last time, looking at her for just one more time.

As she gazed him, somehow admiring her, he smiled faintly before vanishing into thin air.

Her heart felt empty suddenly. Her hand raising up, her fingers tracing the empty air, as if he were still present.

Things to explain, things to know.

Cannot leave yet!

So, after saying whatever he has to say, will he...leave?!

She felt a sting at her heart by the thought alone.
