Just a Little Short

“Back in the days when I made a scene in the Heaven, that was truly majestic..."

Li You smiled as he watched Sun Wukong, not saying much.

Sun Wukong, self-indulgently, happily reminisced about his glorious deeds back then, boasting about his past achievements. He didn't inquire about Li You's purpose in bringing him here or Li You's background.

It had to be said; this was a clever monkey!

Sun Wukong, lost in his self-amusement, was having a great time. However, Li You had to interrupt him.

"Monkey, an old friend has arrived."

Sun Wukong was taken aback at the words—what old friend? Before he could ask, Li You waved his hand, and Sun Wukong involuntarily rose into the air, unable to control his own body.

Sun Wukong was greatly shocked, completely unexpected that this person in front of him was so powerful. It felt terrible to have his body seemingly controlled by someone else. Fortunately, Li You just threw him into a room, closed the door and windows, without doing anything terrifying to him.

Sun Wukong, who was thrown into the room by Li You, was perplexed, completely powerless to resist.

Then, the lively and bustling Chang'an City suddenly revealed dots of golden Buddha light in the sky, permeating down and falling into Chang'an City. Subsequently, the entire Chang'an City fell into a peaceful and quiet state.

Quietly, everyone and every creature in the entire city lost consciousness and fell into a deep sleep.

A dead silence.

Next, three powerful auras appeared above Chang'an City, and Buddha light illuminated the entire Chang'an City. Even in broad daylight, it couldn't conceal this dazzling Buddha light.

Covering the entire sky, it enveloped this part of the world.

In Secular Residence, Li You felt the three majestic auras, and his heart was quite restless. There was a somewhat uneasy expression on his face.

"This... seems a bit lacking... it seems insufficient. Well, let's make do and see if they can succeed."

Three towering golden Bodhisattvas appeared.

As if becoming the center of the world, the entire Chang'an City, as well as this piece of heaven and earth, seemed to have become embellishments.

It was indeed the three Bodhisattvas: Bodhisattva Wisdom, Bodhisattva Virtue, and Guanyin.

"Guanyin, is he really here? Why can't I sense him at all?" Bodhisattva Wisdom frowned, very puzzled.

Bodhisattva Virtue was also full of confusion, sensing nothing either.

He also had some hesitation about following Guanyin here.

Searching through the entire Chang'an City, there was no trace of Monkey King's aura. They were all top-notch Great Luo Golden Immortals, supreme beings who could traverse the heavens and the earth. Even if it was just one of them, they were already the top of the Three Realms. They didn't need to pay attention to this weak city, since they could instantly search it through. However, they found nothing.

Guanyin hesitated for a moment. "Why would I deceive you two?"

She decided to give it a try. The power of the three Bodhisattvas was too strong; there was no reason to return empty-handed. Even if they couldn't find anything useful, they might be able to uncover some clues,

"Follow me, you two. As expected, Sun Wukong should be in this place."

Saying that, Guanyin descended on a cloud, heading towards an inconspicuous spot in Chang'an City.

Although Bodhisattva Wisdom and Bodhisattva Virtue were puzzled, they didn't hesitate and followed Guanyin.

They had once been disciples of the Chan sect, among the Twelve Golden Immortals, and had joined Buddhism together. Over millions of years, they supported each other and, relying on each other, established themselves in Buddhism, gaining a high position.

There was no reason not to believe each other.

In no time, the three arrived at the front of Secular Residence.

"Sun Wukong is in this place?"

Bodhisattva Virtue looked at the seemingly ordinary Secular Residence, and an expression of disbelief filled his honest face.

Getting closer to the Secular Residence, its entrance gate gave him an unfathomable feeling, as if it were an abyss. When staring at it, one would feel like being stared back.

No remarkable features were displayed, but there was a cautious reluctance to act recklessly. Clearly, during the search of Chang'an City from the sky, there was no sign of this place. However, it undeniably existed, and the situation was indeed very strange. Bodhisattva Wisdom also felt a heavy heart, carefully observing everything here, not letting go of any trace.

"Although this place is extremely special, it shouldn't be a problem for the three of us."

Bodhisattva Wisdom exuded confidence, and Bodhisattva Virtue nodded in agreement without denying it. While they would remain cautious due to the peculiar nature of this place, they wouldn't overestimate it. After all, the three of them were already powerful enough; it was inconceivable that they couldn't retrieve Sun Wukong together.

Rolling her eyes, Guanyin silently thought, “I hope so; the result shouldn't be too bad.”

She didn't have much confidence; as long as she could glean some information about the other party, she would be satisfied. The impact she received last time was still vivid in her memory. Her fair and tender palms were slightly sweaty, and her eyes were filled with solemnity.

She didn’t alert the other two, as she knew these two wouldn't take it seriously. They had been comfortable for too long, as not only did they have powerful cultivation but also the support of Buddhism. In these centuries of calm and stable years, that sense of crisis had gradually faded. Without a clear understanding of the other party's strength, it was difficult to give enough attention.

Bodhisattva Wisdom carefully observed for a while and nodded to both Bodhisattva Virtue and Guanyin, indicating they should get ready.

He remained calm, and with a sudden wave of his hand toward the courtyard gate, there was no response.

Silence…

Nothing happened at all. Everything remained the same. Bodhisattva Wisdom's expression froze; why didn't anything happen? Refusing to believe, he raised his hand again, gathering powerful mana and releasing a burst of golden light, making a forceful strike.

...

Still, everything stayed the same; it was as if nothing had happened. Only Bodhisattva Wisdom stared in disbelief.

Although the courtyard gate seemed extraordinary, the marks of time on it were clear, and even the carvings were quite blurry. The gate itself appeared somewhat dilapidated, but it was still intact.

With the idea of first using courtesy and then force, he hadn't used too much mana. However, it should have been enough to open the gate, right? shouldn't it be that the door couldn’t withstand a single blow?

Why was there no effect?

They slightly valued it only because this place was not within the calculations of Heavenly Secrets. Even though it was extraordinary to go unnoticed by them at such close proximity, it was just that.

They knew that there were special places and treasures in the world that, despite being very fragile, could avoid Heavenly Secrets, deceiving the perception and searches of most cultivators.

If one's cultivation was powerful enough, they could achieve this with their strength. However, most of the famous and powerful individuals in the world were known to them. These people were mostly secluded, practicing deep in the mountains or sacred lands, indifferent to worldly affairs. Moreover, there weren't many who could surpass them.

They couldn't believe that one of those happened to be in the place before them.
