Chapter 14

"…I'm not part of your stupidity, okay?"

That's what Halberd said as Reina and I prepared to greet the incoming Heroes. But this is not stupid. This is amazing.

"I'm not doing this just to greet the guests. I'm doing this to threaten them," I said casually.

"You're going to threaten Heroes? Are you crazy?!"

"Oh, I thought you're close with my brother because you already expected that," Reina said.

"I know he's crazy but not this crazy! What is wrong with your brother?!"

"I don't know. We will only be able to tell after everything has happened. So I'll just wait and see how it goes. Because before we can see the result, it's all just him having fun in a very weird way," Reina said. Though she's also helping me with the preparation.

The two Heroes are coming here. But it will take some time because the students and probably the teachers as well will stall for time without knowing that that's what they're doing for me. So I have enough time for preparation in this nurse's office.

"Sigh… Just put them all back in place again after you're done later," Halberd said as he sipped his beer.

Halberd just watching us doing our own things as the Heroes get closer. Then he started asking more questions.

"If what you said is right, then they are here to recruit you. I thought that you're going to be a Hero in the future. If you already affiliated yourself with a guild, wouldn't it be easier to be a Hero in the future? Even if you fail the exam, your guild can do something to help you pass," Halberd said.

"Really? How did you know?"

"I know someone who passed the entrance exam for Hero Academy that way. Don't forget that I have been in this school for years. You're not the only student who is skipping class in the nurse's office. There were others before you."

"Must be back when you're younger and more motivated. Like… a thousand years ago," I said.

"I'm not that old. But yeah, I was younger and more motivated. It really feels like that long ago. So, why don't you answer my question?"

I guess he's really curious why I'm trying to threaten the Heroes. Well, it's fine to tell.

"They are just young guild. And they still don't know much about… many things. If you listen to our conversation later, you will know. If I said that I will join them without knowing much, it will only harm me in the end. So just stay on the side and don't do anything. Rei, put that over there."

While answering Halberd's questions, I'm still telling Reina to help with the preparation.

She is in the student council. But she's actively helping me. Well, it's not like arranging the nurse's office is breaking the rule or something. We'll put them back later.

Obviously, I had the windows closed and the curtains cover the window. It's gotten darker but it's fine.

"Oh, they're coming. Reina, to your position," I said.

"You two are such crazy siblings."

I heard the footsteps of some people getting closer. Must be the Heroes.

"Is Kaiser… here? What is this?"

The two Heroes looked inside the nurse's office to see that this place doesn't look like a nurse's office anymore. Though there are still beds on the side, we arrange it as if they're just furniture.

The Hero who was here before is even more shocked. Because it was just a few hours ago that he was here. But things changed.

Now it looks like an expensive restaurant. I used the bed sheet to cover for the desk and make it look like a table in the restaurant. And I made paper decorations to decorate the room.

Yes, I'm crazy. Yes, I'm childish. But I'm not immature.

"Welcome. Table for two? If you don't mind, you can sit together with him," Reina said pretending to be a waiter.

"Umm… we just here to—"

"I'll bring you to the table," she then walked a few steps and stopped, "here's your seat."

Shocked with what just happened, they just do as she said.

"Here's the menu," Reina said as she placed two pieces of paper on the table. Then I grabbed it as if I'm going to order something.

There are only few selections from the menu. Grape Juice, Orange Juice, tea, and tap water. And the bottom it says to not flirt with the waitress unless you are rich and willing to give a lot of money to the waitress' brother. Though the part after not to flirt with the waitress is crossed by Reina.

"Umm… I'll pass," the confused Hero said.

"I'll take the grape juice. The purple one. With the can that is round on the top and on the bottom," I said. Acting like ordering something expensive from the menu.

Reina then grabbed the menu back, goes to the cupboard to grab the drinks I already prepared there, and place it in front of me.

I open the can and take a sip.

"Tell the chef that it's delicious!" I said to the waitress.

"I will if I know the guy," Reina said.

"Good. Now then, to what pleasure do I owe your visit here?"

Now here comes the main topic. They seem like they don't like the treatment they received though. But the juices are great. They should have ordered one.

"…I'll ignore all this weird stuffs and just tell you why I'm here. I'm the Guild Leader of—"

"A guild from this city. Yes. The guild that just been established for less than five years. So why are you here endangering the students of this school?" I asked.

Everyone is shocked to hear that I suddenly framed the Heroes to endangering the students here. Even Reina and Halberd didn't notice that.

"What the fuck are you talking about?! Who endangered who?!" the Hero from this morning shouted.

"You are putting us students and even teachers here in danger. Want me to tell you why? Even if you are from a young guild, you have some fame. You experienced it yourself on the way here. And why would a famous Hero come here? Obviously, to recruit a talented student here. Someone who had just awakened two days ago. Other organizations, whether they are from other guild or even illegal organization, are obviously keeping watch on you. They want to see who among the students here that you tried to recruit. If you don't believe me, you guys can take a peek through the window. There was someone hiding behind a parked car in front of the convenience store. Someone who acted like a beggar but is obviously not as you can see from his nice shoes that he wears. He wasn't there before. And there were other people suddenly appeared out of nowhere simply because a Guild Leader came to this school. If it's just the other guy, no one will look twice because this is also his job to look after awakened students who caused trouble. You can take a peek outside. But don't be too obvious that you're looking for them," I said.

I might just take a few glances from the window before. But it was clear that those people are bad people.

I also got messages from Bob saying that someone bad is lurking near the school. But I found them first before the text came, okay?

The Guild Leader takes a peek outside. And he really pretends that he's fine. Meanwhile, I made sure that Reina and I won't be seen from the outside.

"…They are there as you said," the Guild Leader said.

"Now you know what I meant by you guys putting us in danger. Any questions?"

No one says anything. They didn't expect that there were some people spying on the school. And they didn't expect me to be able to notice all that before they could.

"If you're here to recruit me, I'll say no. But you also brought dangers to us. So it's a no and you have to pay for the compensation in putting our lives at risk. I hate the fact that you guys who called yourselves as Heroes think that it's fine to do whatever you want without thinking. And the thing I hate the most is putting my sister at risk just by being at this school. My impression of your guild as at its worst with the Guild Leader being so inexperienced. If it's you, you should have fought against not only monsters. But also Villains. So why are you putting us in danger just to recruit one student? Is this how a Hero should act?"

In a job that needs you to risk your life in a dead or alive situation, being inexperienced is a sin. Even if it's your first time, you have to just be able to do it. Or you will die. Or even worse, letting the people you should protect dies.

"You know, I will graduate in a few months. But my sister will still be here for another year. Just by gaining attention from the bad guys make me afraid to send her to school. Thanks to you, it just happened. And I'm sure there will be some students who will reveal what happened today and people will know that a student here can use healing magic just two days after awakening his class. So they will not only target me, but also target my sister or even my family. What do you think is a good compensation for this?"

I take a look at Reina. She was fine until I said that there were some people keeping watch on this school because of the Heroes. She might be my sister. But she's not a reincarnator or someone who has been involved in a dangerous situation. So she's now shaking in fear.

"We will make sure that you—"

"If you're thinking of protecting us, don't even bother. They will realize that someone is protecting us and will lock their target on us even more. Anything else?"

"…It seems like I'm way too inexperienced in all of this Hero stuffs. Even a student like you is giving me a sermon. So, what should we do to make you happy?"
