Smell the flowers

It is a quiet and peaceful primeval morning across DinoIsle, as the sun begins to rise over a certain sequoia conifer tree. This is Parker's hollow tree and deep inside his humble home, the little dinosaur slept peacefully on his nest-shaped bed. Curled up like a sleeping bird, Parker the Parksosaurus slumbered quietly until he felt the sun's rays shine over him. Sure enough, the little dinosaur began to stir from his slumber as he slowly yawns and uncurls so he could sit up on his circular bedding.

"What a Jurassic Fantastic morning," Parker said to himself while his eyes quickly opened. "I wonder if Amber enjoyed her sleep as well."

Looking around for his mammalian guest, Parker quickly noticed that Amber was not in her bed…making the little dinosaur wonder where the young lady could be.

"Amber?" Parker called out while looking around.

"I'm in the kitchen," The young lady's voice called out.

Hearing this, Parker got out of bed and put his daily attire on before walking straight into the kitchen. As he did, the little dinosaur saw that Amber appeared to have finished making something for breakfast and placed two bowls on the stone-carved table for herself and Parker. Inside the bowls appear to be a makeshift fruit salad, made from assorted fruits and nuts found around DinoIsle.

"Did you make this Amber?" Parker asked as he eyed the fruit salad in front of him.

"Of course, Parker," the young lady smiled sweetly. "It has already been 3 weeks since you'd allowed me to stay with you, so I wanted to thank you the best way I could."

"I see," Parker understood as he grabbed some of the fruit with a wooden fork and took a bite. "Wow Amber, you did a terrific job with this!"

"Awe, thank you, Parker," Amber giggled. "It's the least I can do, especially now that I remember that I was considered an excellent cook back where I came from."

"Figured that out from your diary I'm guessing," the little dinosaur shrugged before taking another bite."

"More or less," Amber replied before biting into her salad. "Ever since Dusk was able to find it, the diary has been able to help me recall a lot of things. Such as the fact that I love fashion, parties, and making beautiful things."

"I've noticed," The little dinosaur chuckled before he noticed that his guest was thinking about something with a slight frown. "Anything the matter Amber?"

"I don't know Parker," the young lady admitted. "I have been able to remember so much now, yet there are still some things I do not know about myself. Such as who my family is or where this place called Maple Hill is. Some of it just seems so confusing."

As Amber looked down solemnly, Parker could see that this sweet young lady still has a long way to go before her entire memory comes back. But then, the little dinosaur thought of an idea.

"You know," Parker proceeded to say. "Me and my friends are planning to visit the meadows within the Paleo Plains, the flowers should be blooming there right now."

"Flowers?!" Amber gasped with excitement. "Oh, my goodness, I love flowers! They are so beautiful to look at and they can make a room feel more vibrant!"

"Well, if you want to come with us Amber," Parker suggested. "Feel free to tag along!"

"Oh, thank you, Parker," Amber said before she suddenly hugged Parker, causing the little dinosaur to blush. "You truly are quite a dinosaur to be around."

"Uh…don't mention it, Amber," Parker replied feeling a little awkward at what was happening.

"Give me a minute to get my stuff and I'll be ready to join you," Amber stated before walking into the bedroom to gather some things to take with her.

As Amber left for the bedroom, Parker remained quiet as he contemplated the strange feelings he had been starting to develop ever since he allowed the young human to stay with him. For the time being, the little dinosaur decided to not think of it too much as he and Amber left the hollow tree to meet up with Flap, Boulder, and Dusk. Sure enough, the Paleo Pals and Amber proceeded on their trip to the flowering meadow. Along the way, they passed through a conifer and cycad forest in hopes of reaching the meadow as safely as they can. But then, as they trekked across the forest…a great stomping could be heard close by.

"What…was that?!" Amber gulped.

"It could be my stomach," Boulder suggested. "The idea of flowers is making me a little hungry."

"Are you sure about that Boulder?" said Flap. "Because that's a little loud even for you."

"Well, there's only one way to find out," Parker stated. "Everyone stay close together."

As the five friends stood their ground, they suddenly had a sigh of relief as they finally saw the dinosaur responsible for the stomping. It was a towering long-necked Brachiosaurus (Brak-he-o-sore-us), peacefully heading over to feed on a nearby conifer tree. As the mighty yet humble giant stripped the tree of its conifer leaves, the five friends looked on in amazement at the remarkable sight in front of them. At a distance, one could easily see how vibrant this giant dinosaur is with a dark jungle green coloration to its scales, with a light brown underside and a teal-colored tinge across the neck and top crest.

"Wow," Amber awed at the giant dinosaur. "I never thought I would see a living Brachiosaurus in real life. I do not think I will ever want to forget this."

"Neither do I," Parker added. "Even though we've lived alongside them for years, the sight of a long-necked dinosaur is always a breathtaking one."

As the five continued to watch the Brachiosaurus feed, Amber decided to pull out her pink and blue camera which was in her duffle bag alongside her diary. However, the giant dinosaur proved too big to get a good picture.

"Oh dear," Amber sighed. "Looks like I can't get a good shot of the dinosaur's neck."

"Perhaps I could help with that," Flap offered.

"Thank you Flap," the young lady smiled at the proto-bird. "Though please be careful."

Gripping the camera, Flap flew to the top of the tree and managed to get a good picture of the Brachiosaurus. But then all sudden, the giant dinosaur felt a tickle in its nostrils and begins to feel the urge to sneeze."

"Oh, maybe this wasn't such a good idea," Flap gulped nervously.

Sure enough, the long-necked dinosaur let out a gigantic sneeze that flung Flap out of the conifer tree and straight into a nearby cycad.

"Gesundheit," Boulder said to the Brachiosaurus.

"Flap, are you okay?!" Amber asked with concern.

"I will be," Flap assured his friends. "Hopefully I don't have to do that again."

"Indeed," Dusk added. "That was quite a close call."

"I guess we better get going before more surprises show up," Parker said to the group. "Come on everybody."

So, the Paleo Pals and Amber continue their journey. Along the way, they come upon many more types of dinosaurs and other creatures as they go about their afternoon. Among them is the feathered Atrociraptor (a female with black and grey coloration) as she searches around for foliage she could use for her nest, while a large alligator basked in the afternoon sun by a nearby pond, and a small group of Ankylosaurus (which included the slightly smaller females with grayish skin and dark gray armor) can be seen walking by and browsing on the nearby foliage. While this was going on, the Paleo Pals noticed as Amber pulled out her diary and began writing stuff down.

"That is quite a remarkable little book, Amber," Dusk said to the young lady. "It seems like a good way of writing down your experiences in life."

"Thank you Dusk," Amber smiled sweetly. "Ever since coming here, I thought I might as well add some new experiences with the ones I've already written down in the past."

"It's always important to treasure your memories," Parker said. "They reflect on the character each of us develops throughout our lives."

"For the most part," Flap added. "After we're done with the sightseeing around here, I believe I found us a path to the meadow."

"That's Jurassic Fantastic Flap," Parker smiled at the proto-bird. "After we're done here, we should be at the meadow in no time."

"That's wonderful news," Amber smiled as she put her book away. "Let's get going then."

So, the five friends went on their way and finally found the meadow they were looking for. It was a vast and beautiful meadow, filled with some of the most beautiful flowers.

"Wow," Amber said in awe at the sight of the beautiful flowers. "I still can't believe that the flowers that bloom here can be so pretty."

Indeed," Dusk added. "And to think that there was a time in the Mesozoic era, that there weren't any flowers."

"Oh, my," Amber gasped in surprise. "I never thought that flowers were so young."

"That is true," Dusk the feathered dinosaur replied. "It wasn't until the Cretaceous that the first true flowers appeared, and since then…flowering plants have truly diversified and thrived."

"Wow," Boulder said in amazement. "I don't think I'll ever see flowers the same way again."

"Me either," Amber added. "How about we find a spot to relax, that way we can have a snack while spending time with the flowers."

"Good enough for me," Parker replied. "Let's look around and explore."

So, the Paleo Pals and Amber proceeded to look for a good spot for their picnic. Along the way, they pass by several other dinosaurs as they went about their day in the meadow. Among them was a herd of round crested Hypacrosaurus (Hie-pak-roe-sore-us), who sing to their fellow dinosaurs with their musical head crests. The males in the herd have a yellowish coloring with black stripes, a brown underbelly, and vibrant crimson colored round crests on their heads while the females were a grayish color, black striped, and have a brownish round crest on their heads. There is also a group of multi-horned Styracosaurus (Sty-rak-oh-sore-us), who peacefully browse on the flowering foliage. The powerful males within the herd are light green, with a yellow on the mid-body, with a bright orange on the frill, while the females were deep brown with grey for their frills. Sure enough, the five friends found a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the flowers. Once they settled down, Amber opened her duffle bag to reveal a bag of oatmeal butterscotch cookies that managed to stay fresh even though three weeks had already passed on by. As the four dinosaurs each tried a cookie, Parker, Flap, Boulder, and Dusk were astonished by how they tasted.

"These are truly Jurassic Fantastic Amber!" Parker complimented.

"Thank you, Parker," the young lady sweetly replied. "I might have baked these a while ago, back before I washed ashore on DinoIsle. Yet these cookies seem just as fresh as they might have been in the past few weeks."

Well, you did an incredible job," Flap added. "I normally just feed on insects, but these cookie things are quite a treat."

"Yeah," Boulder added. "And they go well with the fallen magnolia pedals."

"Oh Boulder," Amber giggled as the frilled dinosaur ate the flower pedals with his cookies.

After they finished with their snack, the four friends continued to admire the assortment of flowers that the meadow had to offer. After a while, they bid the meadow farewell, while the Hypacrosaurus herd continued their beautiful whooping calls over the Paleo Planes of DinoIsle.
