As Drew revealed his own deception to learn the demon's true name, the atmosphere in the live broadcast studio, initially filled with horror and suspense, as well as concern for Drew, suddenly reversed. Coupled with the heckling of spectators eager for more drama, a majority of the comments in the rapidly scrolling section were denouncing Drew as a heartless person.
This plunged Drew into a chilling abyss.
"Lovely, isn't it?" Lainey laughed wickedly from her seat. "Didn't you say the audience loves to see good triumph over evil? So, as they denounce you, does that not make you the embodiment of evil in their eyes?"
"Shut up!" Drew, on the verge of collapse, turned and glared at Lainey.
"Who exactly are you?"
Lainey tilted her head, "Who am I? I am one who can see through the past and future of all things; I am a god, a demon prince commanding forty legions of hell."
Bound by the principles of demonic bargains, the demon disclosed a significant amount of information about itself.
Drew quickly processed this information and rushed to his usual equipment area. He booted up a software program on a computer where he had downloaded a demonic database. This database, known as the encyclopedia of demons, contained everything known to humanity about demons, including exorcism rituals, spells, descriptions, personalities, histories, and more.
"As old as God, an angelic figure, with the ability to perceive the past and future of all things…"
Soon, based on this information, a demon matching these criteria appeared on the screen. Drew stared at the image of a monster with a bird's head, fangs, a wolf's body, and a serpent's tail, identified in the drawing as one of Solomon's seventy-two demon gods, ranked seventh.
Amon! Hellish rank: Marquis. He commands forty legions of hell, known as the Marquis of Flame, representing "The Hermit, The Unfathomable." He possesses the ability to turn friends into foes or reconcile them.
"Amon##!!!"
Without hesitation, Drew shouted the true name of Amon and recited the corresponding exorcism spell, following what he had learned.
"Amon! Commander of legions and all your servants…"
At these fiery words, Lainey finally showed a reaction. Her face twisted into a grimace as she roared like a wild beast, deafening and filling the entire space.
The hall began to shake involuntarily.
Nearby shelves, a high table, and even specially arranged candle holders all toppled over, causing a cacophony.
In the midst of this chaos, only Max, who had remained kneeling, moved, but as he tried to stand, he seemed to be controlled by an unknown force. His face twisted in pain before his entire body disintegrated into a burst of black smoke.
"AAAAAAAHHHH!!!" the demon screamed.
Max's disintegration and the demon's agonized screams invigorated Drew, confirming the effectiveness of the exorcism spell.
"You cannot defeat me!!!!" the demon roared.
"Fk you!!!"
As the hall continued to shake, a strong wind picked up, hurling various objects at Drew.
But Drew, undeterred by the minor injuries, grew more resolute, continuing to loudly recite the exorcism spells and scriptures.
"Through the power of the Almighty and the hands of Jesus Christ, you and your legions shall be destroyed, cast down into the abyss never to rise again!!!"
"Disperse, Amon! Let your evil be banished from this world! Past and future have never been under your control, but in the embrace of the Almighty God! It is He, and only He, who brings life, counts every hair on our heads, and makes the soul soar!
Disperse, Amon! Before the Creator, you are nothing."
With these words, Lainey raised her head and howled in pain.
Drew's voice grew more fervent.
"You can only obey His command, in the name of Jesus Christ, do not stray from His path,"
As he spoke, Drew felt the shaking of the hall diminish, and he could sense the demonic power fading. He grabbed a crucifix prop from the equipment area and advanced towards the howling Lainey.
"Amon! Demon and evil spirit from hell, return to your dark prince, in the name of Jesus Christ! I bind you and your army, I cast you out! Vanish from this place,"
Reciting the spell, he pressed the crucifix firmly against Lainey's forehead, as if venting his rage and hatred.
"By the power of the Holy Spirit, subdue the creations of the Almighty, cast down your pure white light, banish Amon! Return to desolation! Bravo! Defeat Satan, fall into the abyss of suffering,
Disperse
!!!!!!"
Drew shouted.
At that moment, his voice overpowered the demon's roar. The hall ceased shaking, and objects stopped flying around, as if the entire world had suddenly quieted down.
Drew glanced down at Lainey.
At that moment, Lainey's head drooped in an eerie silence, as if the demon that had possessed her was banished back to hell by the lengthy exorcism spell.
Then, heavy breathing from Lainey broke the silence.
"What happened to me?"
"Oh! Lainey!"
Hearing this, Drew, with a look of relief, quickly dropped the crucifix and crouched down to support Lainey's upper body.
"Are you alright?"
Lainey then straightened up, her expression confused, seemingly unaware of her condition and everything around her.
"What happened?"
She looked around the chaotic hall, bewildered.
This segment, broadcast live, was witnessed by the viewers.
The comments section exploded again. They had witnessed a real exorcism.
Some regretted that the demon hadn't punished Drew for his deception.
Others were surprised that a demon could be so easily expelled by a few words of exorcism, wondering why the demon seemed so weak.
Only York, still flying high above, sighed.
"If a real ordinary person could solve a case of demonic possession this easily,
then the Church in this world might as well not exist, it should just disband."
In York's eyes, this was all a demonic trick, playing with humans. Demons inherently have this strange penchant for not giving humans peace unless they're plunged into the deepest despair.
To him, Drew, the human involved in the live broadcast, was pathetically pitiable.
York felt Drew got what he deserved, but as a bishop, such thoughts were somewhat unbecoming, so he intervened.
Now was just the right moment.
Withstanding the slight pressure outside his body, York looked towards the city below, aglow with neon lights.
He had finally arrived in Los Angeles! However, in his view, Los Angeles seemed to be in chaos.
From his vantage point, he could see various creatures from hell battling with clergy and military forces.
It was a mess everywhere, with smoke rising in some areas.
York glanced at his phone screen, seeing Drew embracing Lainey, shook his head, and descended.
He needed to alleviate some of the pressure on Los Angeles's clergy.
"Are you saying I was really possessed by a demon?" Lainey asked, puzzled.
Drew, while unlocking the handcuffs from her wrists, spoke with a hint of fear.
"Yeah, I've decided I'm going to listen to you from now on. I'm done with this damned livestream."
As he spoke, he glanced at the still-active, frenzied comments section and continued, "I'm also going to donate the money I scammed to the church. I'm sorry, Lainey, I should have listened to you."
Just then, Drew paused his actions and instinctively looked up at Lainey.
At this moment, Lainey tilted her head, her smile slowly widening into a twisted grin.
"Dear, why are you quitting the livestream? Is it because you're ashamed? Even thinking of donating the scammed money to the damned church, is it because the simple act of deceiving viewers was exposed, and you seek some peace and tranquility in your soul? Or is it because the money burns your hands after being exposed?"
Drew, stunned, fell to the ground as if struck by lightning.
"You!!! You!!!"
"Me?" Lainey's head tilted, her smile bright.
"Me? What about me, dear? Didn't you say the demon possessing me was driven out?"
With that, Lainey burst into laughter.
"Why do I feel like the demon is still inside me, hahaha!"
Lainey laughed until tears streamed down her face. She licked her lips seductively, ignoring Drew, who sat defeated on the floor, and looked tenderly at the camera.
"So, dear viewers, what plot would you like to see next? Or how do you want me to punish the sinner?
Alright, loyal fans, I'll leave this choice to you. You decide what punishment Drew should receive!"
The comments section went wild.
Some wanted Drew to strip, others wanted him to slap himself, and some wanted him to kneel on a floor covered in broken glass, earnestly apologizing.
Drew looked up, his heart cold and desolate, as he stared at Lainey: "Why? Why?"
Compared to before, Drew had truly fallen into the abyss, feeling as if he had just reached the pinnacle only to plummet into the depths, leaving him without the will to resist.
"Why." That was all he could say.
"Why?" Lainey turned to stare at Drew, her tone gentle.
"It's all part of God's plan, because everything in this world is under my control."
Receiving
this all-encompassing answer, Drew opened his mouth but could not speak. He was powerless to do anything else; his body was unharmed, but the demon had shattered all his mental defenses.
Drew admitted defeat, passively awaiting the demon's judgment, accepting his fate.
Actually, his intentions to leave the livestream and donate the money he had scammed to the church were genuine. He even planned to go to any church, confess his sins to a priest, and ask for God's forgiveness after admitting his guilt.
Unfortunately.
Drew, a bit resigned, wiped the sweat and tears from his face with his hands and smiled despairingly.
Just then, a deafening explosion sounded outside, causing him to instinctively look over.
But what Drew didn't know was that Lainey, still seated, had already turned to look out the window, her brows furrowed for the first time.
—
In a certain street block.
A three-meter-tall beast with a sheep's head and a wolf's body was rampaging through the city.
As it roared through the next block, it encountered four clerics dressed in sacred robes.
Their holy presence made it change its target, lunging with its gaping maw.
It despised the people in front of it, only thinking of devouring these ants.
"Father Enrico." A monk beside him, his body covered in blood, spoke calmly.
"I'll handle this."
His knight's sword still dripped with fluid.
"No need, you rest. I'll deal with this myself."
Father Enrico, who had just dealt with three waves of hellish creatures, his face pale from the exertion of his holy power, stared at the charging beast and took a deep breath.
"Lord, I have witnessed evil, and I will expel it in Your name, I pray that You can."
However, before he could finish his prayer, a deafening whoosh exploded.
Before he could react to the sound, Father Enrico heard a calm voice.
"I'm York, you've worked hard. Let me handle this from here."
The next second, with a boom.
Father Enrico was stunned. In his view, the beast charging towards him was suddenly pierced from below by a massive earthen spike that shot up twenty meters into the sky, skewering the creature like a piece of meat on a spit. It struggled and howled in pain before bursting into a cloud of shattered rock.
The twenty-meter-high earthen spike then crumbled into stones, causing a tremendous noise.
"This…"
The monk beside Father Enrico, witnessing this spectacular scene, opened his mouth to speak but found no words. He looked to Father Enrico, who cautiously said.
"Was that Bishop York?"
Father Enrico then came to his senses and looked in the direction of the broadcast. Unfortunately, he could see nothing but heard the whooshing sound fade and then disappear. Recalling the voice from before, Father Enrico couldn't help but exhale softly.
"Probably."
Meanwhile, in an area swept by the whooshing sound, what was left were several creatures impaled by earthen spikes and a group of excited clergy, as well as soldiers looking at each other with blank expressions, putting away their weapons.
"Phew, that was tough, but we made it."
York, having easily dealt with a large number of hellish creatures using magical and earth elemental spikes, stood atop a building. In his vision, he could see a dark veil enveloping the area—a likely reason the demon could continue the broadcast.
York waved his hand.
A sword as large as a building materialized and plunged straight down into the dark veil covering the building.
The two forces collided like needle against wheat, bursting into brilliant light that tore through the space.
With a boom, the dark barrier that York was the only one to see over the building instantly shattered, causing a storm-like howl. The deadly airflow hit York before instantly calming.
"Hello, Amon."
After this action, York, still hovering in the air, seemed to see through the building and made eye contact with Lainey, who was frowning in her chair.
"You can go back now," York said with a smile.
