It went against every instinct inside of him, but his wolf wasn't fighting against the unfairness of it all.

 

'Oh, suck it up,' snapped Damien's wolf, and the man could practically see the wolf's eyes rolling. 'Did you ever think that not everything is about us?'

 

'Excuse me?' blinked Damien, surprised by how his wolf was acting.

 

'You're not excused. Now, pay attention, our mate is in the car. Drive carefully and don't speed. You have a lead foot, ease up on the pedal.'

 

Great, now his wolf was giving his driving advice.

 

Refusing to get into it with his other half, he subtly looked over at the woman sitting in the front passenger seat. Her brown hair was twisted up into a bun, held together by a stick she had found in the woods and she had one of the emergency blankets wrapped around her body.
