We went downstairs anyway - and explored the inn a bit. Everything was still intact - like they had just packed up and left. It was sort of eerie as we had to carry around light around with us. Only the basic services were running.
We headed towards the kitchen and found a reserve of natural gas.
Still in canisters and everything.
Arslan gave me a good guy smile, and we proceeded to get to cooking.
Since we were both cooking - to speed up the process - we agreed to cook something filling for each other.
We had some ingredients, like frozen meat and a stack of rice.
So we got to cooking - we could leave the money in the counter as we would then head deeper into the city to reach another under-dark entrance, we had to finish off the Winter monster.
[Aiden I really need to talk to you - ]said Apollo.
"Yeah? Can I cook while we talk?" I said.
We were having this conversation in my head. So Arslan wasn't suspecting.
[Sure thing - ]said Apollo.
I started getting the ingredients ready.
I was making him a doze of two hamburgers.
It was the easiest thing I could do right now.
And we had bun and everything - but I was going to make them super delicious
I had even fan a can of jalapeños.
He was going to love it - I wasn't going to make it spicy - just juicy and savory.
[You're owing some money - for you time in The First Sphere]
I got serious. But concentrated on my craft.
"Sybil needs a payment for 45 USD, you know for the server rack you rented," Apollo mentioned.
A memory was triggered inside my brain.
What the hell?
What was this weird feeling?
But the thing that came out of my mouth surprised even me.
"Don't you have like a paypal or credit card on file?" I asked.
[Let me check!]
He made some clicking and beeping sounds.
Was Arslan still here?
He was cooking right along, singing a happy tune.
His cooking smelled delicious.
[Indeed! There's a card terminating on 9393.]
"Run it!" I said.
The door caught my eye - there were weird spirals coming from the darkness beyond it.
[Accepted!]
[All right all seems to be in order -]
He paused for a moment.
[What's wrong?]
"I don't know - I just feel like crying -" I said sniffling.
[Oh - I know what's wrong buddy - I'll help you out okay - but I need verbal confirmation]
he explained.
"Just do it - " I said. Holding back the tears now more than ever.
And with that it was like he was out of my brain and - that's weird.
The cheeseburger - I had to start all over again.
I didn't mind.
It was for someone I loved.
