Aira adjusted the strap of her satchel, feeling the hard edge of the artefact dig into her side as she and Kellan trudged through the overgrown forest.
The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and rotting leaves, the heavy canopy above swallowing most of the sunlight. Every now and then, a shaft of light would pierce through, casting golden streaks across the dark green undergrowth.
They had been following Yara and her companion for days, initially following them into that inn but learning that they had used a teleportation array to shorten their travels. Aira couldn't make sense of the pattern Yara was following, what exactly was she after?
The Innkeeper had told them that the array wasn't working well and wouldn't take them to the same place but Kellan hadn't been ready to take no for an answer and Aira was honestly tired of this stupid goose chase.
