Laugh

"You don't know what you are talking about, Shin."

He looks at me. I am not mad. I'm not sad and I'm completely calm. It must make him even angrier that I don't react to him the way he wants. I've never really showed many emotions, but that never meant that I don't have any. I can get mad, or sad, but it's just really rare.

"An eternity is cruel."

I say.

"You are the one who said that you're immortal anyway. That's why I said I despise you. Because you're weird. You are-"

"..."

"One day you will destroy yourself with that behavior of yours."

I look at him as he says that.

"You asked me why I don't escape, right? I said it's because of the people, but actually I've played with the thought of killing the professor and running away."

"Then why didn't you just do that?"

He asks.

"Because I'm too weak."

After a few seconds of silence I talk again.

"Why don't you run away?"

He doesn't look at me.

"I can't... Use my ability at this moment."

My eyes widen as I hear that. He can't use his ability? The almighty number 0 can't use his ability? I chuckle silently as I hear that.

"Excuse me are you laughing?"

"No idea what you you mean."

I stop, but I still got a slight smile on my lips.

"I just thought it's funny, that one of the most powerful beings in the universe can't use its ability right now."

He sighs and responses.

"Whatever. Don't make fun of me."

"I swear I didn't."

I respond. He looks at me for a second and then looks away again, as if he was thinking about something.

"Everytime you come here you look kinda sad or tired. I think I've never seen you laugh before. You should do it more often, I've heard it's healthy."

I look at him confused. What do I respond to that? Yes? Thanks?

"Whatever. I've also never seen you laugh and I don't tell you to laugh more."

"Well that's a point."

He says.

"Normally I am a really cool guy, but it's hard to be happy when you're trapped in a cell, chained at the ground."

He looks at me.

"Are you happy?"

He asks.

Of course I am not happy. Who could be happy, when your daily routine is talking to an annoying guy who can't shut up and being sliced up.

"Not really. Were you at least happy before you came here?"

"Not really."

He responds.

"The world outside is hard. Sure it can be beautiful, but since the humans started to catch the Cora's the world escalated and everything is more apocalyptic than beautiful. Destroyed streets, abandoned houses and you don't often see humans, because they are hiding from the danger."

"What danger?"

I ask.

"Humanity."

I look at him fo a few seconds without saying a word.

"I didn't know about all that. They don't teach us that in the lab school."

"I know."

He says.

"That's why I told you about the situation outside. If you want to escape one day, you'll have to know that the world isn't sunflowers and rainbows."

"I am aware that the world isn't like that. I'm not stupid after all."

"..."

Silence.

"Not sure abou-"

"Just shut up, Shin."

He laughs. I'm not sure if he laughs at me or about the joke he just made. It could be both.

"How long are you going to stay? You've been here for hours now. It's getting boring."

I sigh after he said that.

"Well I can go NOW if the number 0 prefers me to be gone."

"I do."

He says. I stand up and walk infront of the door. I also don't really want to stay any longer. He is getting on my nerves.

"See you tomorrow, Shin."

I can see him nod.

"See ya."

I open the door and make my steps out of the room. The professor wasn't here. I'm glad that he already went back, because I really couldn't talk to him right now.

"Have you kept your promise?"

I hear a familiar voice right behind me, speaking up to me, as if we were friends.
