"Please be careful." The doctor says, now leaving Celine and taking my side.
He makes to reach out for me, but I pull my arm back as I continue to cough.
"Please try to be calm." He says.
The cough dies down and I hold onto my throat, trying to regain myself.
"Are you alright?" He asks me, his eyes intent on me.
He keeps his face so neutral, as though he didn't just say something outrageous.
"You..." A slight cough escapes me. "You were joking right?" I ask, genuine curiosity glazing my thoughts.
He chuckles.
"Is that so hard to believe?" He asks with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"That's completely different." I respond, still not sure of how to process this.
"How is it different? Creatures of legends in the flesh, a werewolf. And you just encountered something very otherworldly, so why is this such a stretch to believe?"
"Being able to transform into a wolf is one thing, but eternal life, that's another."
