Friend for the rainy days 1/2

This story stars with a girl whose hairs had (naturally?) an orange-flame color, walking through a wide open gate like doors, exiting something that look like a train station. [Kiara Takanashi, a crazy Phoenix entrepreneur] At first glance she was wearing a colorful student uniform from certain prestigious school from overseas and she was quite hyped up. At the second look, her uniform and big travel backpack on her back, were catching an attention from the crowd around; it was clear that she is a transfer student. She take a deep breath through her nose to catch the smell of a new adventure in this city.

We shall note that as she look around, this city lacked the presence of inventions of digitization and miniaturized computers. But still there were cars, public phone boxes connected by wast network of cables and such things one can found few decades back in time. There were still vendors stands with food and newspaper as other things like a wending automates or TVs behind the showcase glasses of shops, cafeterias or such.

She doesn't seem to mind any of it as if it was the normal. So, she make a step forward pursuing her students (desires?) and dreams.

.

However… After several minutes (or an hour) of pointless strolling around, later.

.

For a moment, she step aside to make stop next to a bush like fence in certain square or park like thing. With clear confusion in her face she was staring onto a city map [A3-size paper] trying to figure out where she is. On one point, she turn over the map in 90 degrees to have a different point of view on her situation.

At certain point she noticed from behind her a suspicious (hi-tech?) noise, such one that she heard from science fiction movies that were late hits in cinemas. She look behind herself and quickly figured out that the noise must arrived from the other side of the bush like fence. Because she overheard an another computer like noises she got curious and decide to peak on other side. So she found a gap where two bushes fight for space to live and pushed her head through.

To her surprise what she saw on other side was a back of blonde girl wearing the same uniform as her. [Amelia Watson, the suspicious (wandering?) detective.] That phenomenon was weird because to get onto this city, Takanashi practically traveled from overseas and from another country. And she was not informed that somebody else from her former school was transferring to the same country, same city, at same date; as she was.

The blonde girl dint noticed that she is watched and continued to looking onto something she hold in her hands. "...That shall work… What?! The battery is dying? What the heck?! Don't act like you are overloaded! Hey wait! At last tell me where the heck I am?!… Its dead... Dam that power shock! It must busted something… Shut! And I don't have tools with me! Do you realize how long it will take me to found whats wrong with you in an analog way? Dang!"

.

Takanashi got curious about the item that make the other girl so preoccupied. So she tried to (stretch?) her neck to take a glimpse on what it is. (Just try for a moment to image how it must look from the other side of the bush fence; as she is half way onto that bush. What a fan-servis.) She literally glanced around the blonde girl to notice something that at first glance look like a palm sized clock, with a (mirror?) something on inside of the openable protective metal case.

But this blonde schoolmate comments and the way how she approached that thing give a vibe as if it was not a mechanical clock, but a sophisticated steam-punk or electrical machine. "Common! Turn on already! Don't give the death battery look!,- I made you!"

.

It take the orange girl a few second, until she though that it can be a communicator; a telephone from science-fiction books. Then her eyes got wide open and her face beamed up with astonishment. No! You can clearly see the imaginary yellow stars of wonderment in her eyes. Because she needed to know the answer this instant, without any hesitation, and in excitement; she shouted. "Don't tell me that the thingy you have, is…!!"

The yellow girl jump-scare in shook so much that it for second look that she will jump out of her skin. She shriek the legendary 'Kia!!' like a proper maiden. She hasty stop manipulated with her device, close the case and she protective pull it toward her chest. Right after that she look back at the attacker, and she jump-scare again, shouting back. "Its you!!"

.

Takanashi smiled wildly. "Yes! Its me!" Boosted with enthusiasm she push half way through the bush fence, managing to push one of her legs through. Then she must pull on her other leg that got stuck on the bushes, to fully pass to the other side. The moment she was finally free from that bush, she dint bothered to clean her uniform and hairs from leaves and branches and with shining stars in her eyes she enters the personal space of the other girl. She lean towards her, closing the distance between theirs face to mere centimeters. So the blonde must make one step back. But Phoenix was just to happy-hyped as she begun her interviewer that look more like a strict interrogation. "(Don't tell me!), that is one of those custom made telephone computer thingy, from the (Future tech starts today!) magazine? And you made one by yourself?" The speechless yellow girl put that device behind her back, but the investigator don't mid it as she just continue to throw words at the suspect. "No wonder I don't recognize you. They must kept you from my reach on purpose. Otherwise I will already post my order for my own thingy." The other girl tried to back from her but she keep the close distance as her eyes pupils (glow?). "We must become a friends! I insist on it!"

The blonde girl in the same uniform as the orange one had awkward (Oh shit!) expression as if she was cached on mischief and was on pinch. "Actually… I don't take build orders…"

.

This answer don't bothered Takanashi at all as if she understand what she means on an another level. "Make sense. From what I catch, it must be just a prototype. A successful start-up project can turn into uncontrollable avalanche of orders. Like when you make a new flavor or season-holiday snack and forget to marked it as a limited-edition product." For a moment she smiled desperate silly. "But I can wait. I can even help you move." The glow in her eye pupils leveled up igniting her stare onto a (fire?). "I know. I can even help you setting yours workshop."

Blonde seeing that there is no way to get free from this girl. So she at last decide to join the conversation. "Something telling me that you are the type of person who can (Fired up!) for any case."

.

This finally put some breathing space for the Yellow girl because the orange girl she straightened her back proudly puffing her chest. "You bet! Because I am (the Phoenix)... And I am quite the legend." Only now Takanashi take another look on the other girl noticing that even if the blonde's clothing are perfect, there was something odd with her. "Hmm… If you are a transfer student like me... Then where is you stuff? At last a satchel."

Hearing that comment the blonde twitched and forced on her face a weird smile of someone who realize they are in social pinch. She clearly don't wanted to answer that question as she averted her gaze. "A-- about that… I-- don't really-- having them... anywhere near..."

.

Takanashi tilled her head on side. "Whats up? Having so much stuff that it need a separate delivery by a truck? No wonder. That thingy of your must be a really complicated. I can see how it can be born only in the high tech lab from that superheroes comics."

At this point the yellow girl felt really embarrassed as she keep her face averted from the orange girl. "About that… my lab slash-tag workshop... exploded." She really tried to make a forced dry laugh. "Ah, ha, ha, ha."

.

Phoenix tilled her head on other side. "Oh. That's and unfortunate news. But surely you can at last call to our school, for help. To resend you papers. Or at last the proper documentation and probably a some supply. Like a moneys."

Blonde girl was sweating, trying very hard to figure what to tell next. So it was clear obvious that she was hesitant to speak up. "I… I will not bet on that. Because… because... I am?…" She had a voice tone of somebody who itself dint believed on what she was saying. "A transfer student?"

.

It give the orange-flame girl a second, two or three of thinking, tilling her head from one side to another, until she look straight at the other one speaking up her deduction. "Don't tell me: That when you make yours firs step onto our school, you meet the transferring officer jumping at you drooping its bomb: (Do you want to be a transfer student?!), while holding a document form. But confused, you reply that: (You are the transfer student.) And before you realize whats is happening, you was already shipped here. And for that it take a quite of bureaucracy steps to actually found you stuff (if any was left) and send it here. So in the final summary: You are stranded. There is no guarantee that they will let you in to the Harp Academy. And on the final is questionable how you not ended arrested. But I guess that the issued border-pass was a one time card." She clearly sighed shaking her head in (This is no good) gesture. "Tell about a tossing a to hot potato to other pairs of hands. That lab explosion must scared them to the point, that they decided that you are to good for them and sneak you around. It will be probably pointless to even call back."

The yellow one looked at the other girl whit shocked expression on her face. It was like she itself don't believe that the other girl will buy something like this. Because it was to much embarrassing for her, she lowered her face and hide it to her palms. "Nobody will believe this nonsense." She still hold that watch-tingy in her palm.

.

Takanashi seem like she had a lot of experience whit this type of confusion. "How to say? Is unbelievable believable. But not unfamiliar scenario to me."

The blonde glanced whit wide open eyes not-believing what she heard. And this time it was her who make step forward. "Something like this actually happened?!"

.

And the orange-flame averted eyes up to search in her memory. "Not exactly like this. But-- in a similar way. Yes." Then she return her gaze back at her schoolmate. "Dint I told you? I am quite legendary. And I can proudly say that you too have something special in yourself." Seeing that the other girl calmed down a little by making a big sigh, she redirected her attention on the device in the blonde hand. She cat-smile. "So~o, if I dint already know, I will say that this thingy of yours is just a watch, kept as memento. What it actually can do?"

The yellow girl tried to hide it behind her back, but even she knew how embarrassing that must look. So she finally put it into her pocket.

.

But once again Takanashi was to much hipped up in a good mood. She even created a conspiracy theory on a go as she decided to play along. "Oh I see. You must like those detective stories. Like you wanted to have this super gadget for spies that can do anything the book story main character needed at that moment." Seeing the surprised expression on the blonde face, she thought that she must hit the nail on its head and she grinned wildly. "Don't worry, you secrets are safe whit me. Whatever you will need a helping hand, just say it. But I am still curious, how long did it take you to make it?"

This time it was the blonde who rise her gaze in order to search in her memory. "Eh… Not sure. But I worked on it from when I was a little. And still working on changes."

.

That impress the orange girl. "Oho~o? A life time project? No wonder you don't wanna share it. That's means I cant expect anytime soon, even the downgraded version." But she was forced to reevaluate her approach. "Dang! Do I already miss my company? But I am not the workaholic one."

The blonde really wanted to change the subject. "So~o… Where we are? Or-- how we will get to the aca… [Academy] ...the school?"

.

Takanashi throw her hands to the sides. "Beats me. I am completely lost, just like you! But don't worry, we will figure something."

As a result the yellow one gave her doubtful (Oh, really?) glance. "That level of confidence is really something."

.

But as expected Takanashi was already on another step. "Don't worry, I have a map. The only thing we need to do is ask locals, where is the Harp Academy. Then it will not be a problem to explain the situation. So where we shall start?..."
