Inheritance

I was foolish to think that our night was over when we arrived at home and I carried Lilith up to our room.

She was so tired that she fell asleep on my shoulder.

When I tried to shake her awake she grumbled that she was too tired to walk.

"Mr. Harris, you have a guest," our housekeeper informed me when I went to the kitchen for a glass of water.

"Who?" I asked wondering who would want to see me at this hour.

Okay it wasn't that late, it was still early but I wanted to just lie down next to my wife and cuddle her.

I've become a man of simple joys, all it took was my wife and I was happy.

"Lexington Durfort and Riley Harris, sir." I groaned at the mention of their names.

"Let them in, you can leave after," I didn't want our housekeeper to stay beyond necessary. I know she'd still be paid overtime, but we could clean up after ourselves or at least most of us could.

Our housekeeper nodded as she left to fetch our cousins.
