Chapter 5: Miss Ruyun

As Amos stared at her, memories of his first rebirth flashed before his eyes.

When Amos got murdered by Feng Lin all because of a crappy heaven-grade spiritual tool, he swore vengeance. When he reawoke and found himself alive and breathing after signing a contract with the divine, he immediately sought out a tutor who could properly guide him on the road of cultivation.

That tutor was Miss Ruyun. Amos was still an innocent boy during that time, blissfully unaware of the demon he had just asked to help him. Her smile that shone brighter than the sun, her deceptively sweet voice, and her honey-laced words, as well as her pretty face, really did get him good.

Immediately after asking for help, he was forced to swing his sword and practice the Sky Splitting Thunder Art until the sun set. The only time he was allowed a break was when he had to eat or meditate and solidify his understanding.

He still remembered when Miss Ruyun forced him to bathe in scorching fire to temper his body, threw living tier 3 beasts at him, and made him be her poison tester, as well as essentially turning him into her living punching bag.

Amos had to stop himself from thinking about the past, because if he didn't, his trauma would cause him to throw up at the sight of her. Even after mercilessly thrashing her around in his 2nd rebirth, he still feels like he didn't get the justice he deserved.

"Ah… greetings, Miss Ruyun, it's nice to see you too." Amos said bitterly, trying to calm himself down.

"Hey! Don't ignore my question! Since when were you so interested in cultivation? Just what are you up to?" Miss Ruyun asked curiously.

"I'm merely appeasing my mother. She's been bothering Lu Kun about my cultivation," Amos responded.

"I didn't know you still cared about your mother's concerns. How adorably sweet of you." Miss Ruyun said, a slight hint of suspicion in her voice, "Well, at least it's good you've started cultivating again. How about I help you out after this session as well?"

"No! I mean, I wouldn't want to waste your time, Miss Ruyun! I'm sure you're busy." Amos quickly said,

Amos didn't know if he could control the impulse to murder her if she stayed any longer around him, let alone have a training session. Why did Lu Kun have to pick her out of everyone?

Lu Kun, who was silently watching the entire interaction in silence, finally stepped in. "How about we help the young master finish consuming his pills before we start discussing any of that?"

'Yes! Thank you!'

Amos hurriedly nodded and agreed. He truly wanted to get this over with.

Miss Ruyun looked ever so slightly annoyed before putting on a smile. "Alright, I suppose small steps are better than nothing."

Amos and the two of them went into his room, locked the doors, and helped him prepare.

"It's been months since you've last cultivated, should I perform a proper demonstration on how to circulate qi before we begin?" Miss Ruyun asked.

Amos didn't bother to respond and immediately sat in a meditative stance. He grabbed a fistful of pills and consumed them before shutting his eyes.

Lu Kun and Miss Ruyun looked at Amos with a slightly concerned expression

Amos suddenly felt a fire burning at the back of his throat before that burning sensation spread throughout his entire body. He immediately took control of his qi and circulated it throughout his entire body.

It felt absolutely delightful. Everywhere that warm sensation touched, he felt as if his body was being remade.

When he finished, he realized his breath had become more stable, his perception of the world had become clearer, and his body felt naturally more sturdy. He had reached the 8th stage of Qi Refining, and so easily too. He missed how simple the early stages of cultivation were.

When he was finished, he looked up and saw Lu Kun expressionlessly staring at him while Miss Ruyun read a book.

"Congratulations on reaching the 8th stage, young master. You've done so in merely 2 hours as well, as expected of the Tang Clan's heir." Lu Kun stated simply.

Closing her book and putting it inside her storage ring, Miss Ruyun looked at him, fascination in her eyes. "That was quite the feat, young master, with how fast your cultivation was. Your qi control was flawless as well. Just what did your parents feed you before they left?"

Amos sighed internally, he purposefully took his sweet time, but it still all amounted to 2 hours. He couldn't really hide his qi control unless he wanted to risk qi deviation and a shaky foundation.

"Nonsense, my parents did nothing. I am a genius with talent unparalleled." Amos responded with pride.

Miss Ruyun rolled her eyes. "Shimin, if you wanted to hide whatever cultivation treasures your parents gave you, you could have simply told us not to ask."

"Where's the fun in that?" Amos said with a small smile.

Better to let them make nonsensical theories than to correct them and reveal hints of the truth.

To avoid too much suspicion, Amos will slowly advance to foundation establishment during this week instead of doing it all in one go.
