CHAPTER 6

Roger looked at him and said, "Let me ask in another manner. What do you think is the royal power? No. Royal power is easy to cultivate but it is hard for the outsiders to see the essence through. Let me ask you. What do you think is the imperial power in actuality?"

Henry said in a natural manner, "Royal power and imperial power is nothing more than an authority."

Roger said, "Why should a peasant listen to a lord? Because he is strong. But why should the lord be respected and followed by the knights. Why can a single man decided the fate of the army and have no man stand against him. The answer is simple. It is nothing more than an avalanche. If you can stop the small rock that is going to bring the avalanche, you can stop the power of the lord. The lord is nothing more than the weak stone. The power of the lord and the power of the king is the power of the society. The power come from the society and the society is dynamic. What makes the lord and king keep the power is the power of need. The knights cannot believe each other and can only look at the man above them. When the lord falls, even if the enemy stand above them, they will listen to the lord. The truth is, all men are cowards and look forward to someone leading them. Even in a democracy, they will just lie to themselves that they have power and will try to let someone lead them and even when they know that they are going to die, they will not stand up. That is why the rebellion or insurrection always needs a leader. They hate the leader and loath them but they will not fight against the leader unless another ambitious person stands at the top. The power of the lord is nothing more than the power of need, they only have virtual power of control over everything and they are hence strong. So, to become a king or rise to the position of the king, you just need to kill the king and replace the royal family and take over all the mechanisms under the king. But if I want to rise to the position of the king, I just have to have the power of control. I have the power of revenge as I can slaughter the whole kingdom by myself and can control the kingdom as the resources, I have is more than enough to cause and economic collapse and control the market slowly so that the kingdom is under my control. That is how I rise to the top."

Henry looked at him and asked, "What is economic collapse?"

Roger looked at Henry in doubt. He could not understand why such a proper man would listen to his bullshit. Roger could only fulfil the conversation, "Economy is the basis of all exchange and the way the society works. Each man does their job and there is a reason for the society works. It is exchange of benefits and the there is a need for basis. Slavery will not always work as mankind is not an animal. They will hate you and loath you, they will try to crush you for the lies they believe in. The only way for slavery to work is if there is a classification and they are given some way out of it otherwise they can only be used for the hard and untrained labour. The way to make sure is that there is some exchange. And the basis for exchange is not only on the basis of need and supply but also on the basis of morals and traditions and ideas of the society. The lords can control the price of the grain that they buy from the peasants and can put a price on the cheapest of the items. The game of economics comes here where there is not much monopoly or there is multiple person who can challenge the people who are in the market. It would be other lords or a strong person who can break the rules by me. If the supply is higher than the need the cost will fall down and if the supply is lesser than the need the cost will rise. But no matter what the price of grain cannot rise than that of gold unless there is a drought. The control of items can increase the cost per unit but there is always a limit. That is where I come in. I will flood the market and break down their market and break down profits so that they will have no choice but to have their economic machine break down. They will have to put more input to make the machine that makes gold not collapse but they will not be able to hold for much longer. They will not be able to attack me as I am stronger than them and because I will retaliate. They will have no choice but to see their machine collapse. The weak may fall from the position of the lord and the strong may survive. They will not be able to afford more knights and richer items. They will lose power while my power and authority will rise. Slowly I will have the market under me and I will be able to control the collapse and rise of this kingdom. That is when I become the unnamed king and that is when I shall rise to the position of the king."

Henry said, "You really have faith in me my lord to tell your plans."

Roger laughed and asked, "What can you do know the truth? What can the whole world do? They cannot afford an economic warfare with me and taking actual action will let me win. If the society ignores me and isolates me, they will not be able to handle it as I will become a true demon king and destroy them directly. There is no one in this society who can control to the extend to follow the counterattacks I said and no one will be able to manage this kingdom in such a manner. In a family, the patriarch is the head and the members would like to get out of control and in a town the lord will be the one above the family and in a kingdom the king will be above the lord. In any manner someone is above another person. Will the masses really care who is above them? As long as I pay them enough, they will be under men."

Henry interrupted, "The knights will not betray."

Roger said, "But the lords can. When did you have the idea that I will target the knights. The world runs based on a single rule that is the rule made by gods. The animals, including the humans runs on a single rule that is profit. All living beings are machines that only has two rules to follow- profit and reproduction. The reproduction is the key as the species will never care about an individual. Even the emotions of humans are controlled by the hormones of a human body. The profit is simple, the living beings works hard to get more matter and energy and works hard to consume it in such a matter that they will have more matter and energy of their own. The higher life forms may evolve instinct but the side evolution may lead them to have something known as fun. The cats will like when they are petted and the animals will like when they are full and safe. Humans and some animals like elephants and dogs have evolved to have feelings along with memory to have emotional attachment and revenge. The fact remains the same that still many humans cannot overcome the nature of a living being."

Henry smiled and said, "I am not like an animal. I am a knight ordained by the gods who has overcome the original sin. I will have no such feelings."

Roger smiled and asked, "Do you like pretty women Henry?"

Henry said, "Yes."

Roger said, "That is how biology works!"

Henry argued, "That means nothing."

Roger asked, "Let me say a situation. You are a young man and is rich enough to be in the society. As you are walking by you see that a young child is caught in the fire. You may die, but will you save the child."

Henry said, "Yes. That is my duty as the knight."

Roger said, "That is true. But most of the humans will do so as they are affected by their body. They are not able to break through a simple logic added to their thinking by their body and remain unaffected by such hidden truths. The humans will get depressed and may even die when they are not paid much attention to and is not an active part of their society, no matter how strong their individualism is as humans have evolved to become a social animal and the one in the group survives more. The humans like other animals will like and have awe of stronger men though the definition of the strong has changed during time."

Henry said, "You have no proof to prove your philosophy."
