Zane emerged from the shower not long later. He had many thoughts in his mind about what had happened, and how to proceed. Conventional morality was something he had never really given a damn about, and when society fell apart, the very notion of such a thing went flying out the window.

Regardless, Zane had preconceived notions about what a proper relationship should be, thanks to society beating it into his head constantly. And it was ultimately a lack of experience with situations like this that caused him to flee Elena's bed, and not speak to her about what happened in a mature and open way.

Hell, Zane emerged from his new quarters almost like a frightened rabbit as he approached the kitchen in a fresh set of clothes. It had been so long since he could say such a thing, as his usual attire was covered in blood and grime from all the violence he had engaged in over the past few weeks.
