"I understand your concerns, Isleen. I care for my son more than my own self. I think I have told you this many times before- I have to do this because of the love I have for my son. You two are cursed. You've brought the Moon Goddess's curse upon yourselves. Don't you understand? If I don't claim you and allow you two to continue this folly, one of you could die. I don't want any one of you to die." He sounded sad.
He sounded like he was so sure of himself.
I scoffed. "And what makes you so sure that we are cursed, Gamma Rhett? A book with an unverified story? Folklores? Culture? Traditions? All of those couldn't surpass the love you have for your son, could they?"
I was looking at him now, searching him, searching for a glint of remorse but I didn't think I could find any. It was as if he'd lived this life and seen the future.
