368-Eyes of Truth

"System, what is the Eye of Truth? What is its use?" Blake asked, his voice steady but laced with anticipation. He didn't rush to implement the mysterious reward he had just obtained. Instead, he decided to gather more information first.

The system's mechanical voice responded promptly:

[Ding! The Eye of Truth is a type of pupil magic with a multitude of functions. It allows the user to see through illusions and perceive the absolute truth. Under its gaze, even the most advanced magical disguises, such as the Ten Cut Eyes, are rendered ineffective. Additionally, the Eye of Truth can instantly reveal the abilities and potential of all living beings, including animals and plants.]

Blake's lips curled into a satisfied grin as the system explained. This artifact wasn't just good—it was excellent.

The idea of seeing through illusions and unmasking all disguises was a game-changer in itself. But the added ability to assess the potential of creatures and plants? That was a priceless advantage.

He began to imagine the possibilities. Currently, his strategy for acquiring treasure chests revolved around identifying standout characters from the original canon story.

But this wasn't merely a story anymore; this was a real world, far more complex and expansive. Surely, there were countless other individuals with extraordinary potential who had gone unnoticed in the original narrative.

"If I can assess someone's abilities and potential at a glance," Blake mused, "I'll be able to form alliances with the right people much more effectively."

This would not only streamline his treasure chest farming but also lay the foundation for valuable connections to aid him in the future. Even those with untapped potential—young witches and wizards yet to mature—could become strong allies if befriended early.

All in all, the Eye of Truth was more than worthy of its place in a diamond treasure chest.

"System, install the Eye of Truth for me."

[Ding! Installing the Eye of Truth on the host!]

the system announced.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! The Eye of Truth has been successfully installed. Please explore its capabilities on your own.]

The moment the system completed its notification, an intense itching sensation surged in Blake's eyes.

His hands instinctively flew to his face, but no amount of rubbing could relieve the discomfort. Tears streamed uncontrollably as the sensation intensified, almost unbearable in its persistence.

Just as Blake thought he couldn't endure it any longer, the itching stopped abruptly, replaced by a cool, refreshing sensation. Slowly, he opened his eyes.

If anyone had been present in the room, they would have seen Blake's eyes glowing faintly with golden light. He felt an unfamiliar energy welling up within them, restless and eager to be unleashed. Deciding not to resist, Blake allowed the power to flow freely.

A blinding golden beam erupted from his eyes, striking upward with immense force.

"Boom!" The wooden roof of his cabin was blown off entirely, the Room of Requirement's simulated blue sky shimmering with distorted light as it absorbed the impact.

Within seconds, cracks began spreading across the ceiling like a spiderweb. Alarmed, Blake hurriedly suppressed the power in his eyes, and the golden light vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

"Bloody hell," he muttered, wiping beads of sweat from his brow as he surveyed the damage. Fortunately, the Room of Requirement's self-repairing magic was already at work. The ceiling slowly knitted itself back together, the illusionary sky reappearing as though nothing had happened.

Blake let out a breath of relief, then smirked. "If anyone doubts me now, one glare and they'll regret it for life." His excitement bubbled over as he pulled out a small mirror to inspect his eyes.

What he saw intrigued him. His once-blue pupils were now encircled by a thin ring of golden light. However, the golden ring seemed to fade gradually when he wasn't actively using the Eye of Truth.

Experimenting further, Blake discovered that the size and intensity of the golden ring depended on how much power he channelled. At full strength, the ring expanded to cover his entire pupil, radiating golden light that could obliterate objects in its path.

Content with his discoveries so far, Blake turned his attention to testing the Eye of Truth's other functions. He activated it again, this time focusing on the cabin walls.

To his astonishment, his vision pierced straight through the wood as if it were made of glass. Outside, he could clearly see the garden beyond, with every flower and blade of grass vividly outlined.

"See-through vision? Are you kidding me?!" Blake exclaimed, his grin widening. "This isn't just a diamond-tier reward—it's practically cheating!"

Excitedly, he extended his gaze further, observing the Room of Requirement's surroundings in unprecedented detail.

The walls, normally impenetrable, offered no resistance to his enhanced sight. Objects hidden in drawers, under furniture, and even behind magical barriers became visible. He tested the Eye on a mirror, only to find that it rendered reflective surfaces useless.

"Good," Blake murmured. "This ability is subtle. As far as I can tell, no one else can sense when I'm using it. Perfect for reconnaissance—or pranks." He chuckled at the thought before redirecting his focus to the plants outside.

What he saw next left him awestruck. The whomping willows in the garden, notorious for their violent tendencies, now appeared as though bathed in an ethereal glow. Each tree emitted a distinct light, varying in intensity and colour. One particularly large willow shone with a faint golden hue, while others displayed shades of purple, blue, cyan, and white.

"So this is how it works," Blake realized. "The glow must represent their potential and abilities. Incredible." His mind raced with possibilities.

If the Eye of Truth could assess plants, it could surely do the same for magical creatures and even people. This ability was invaluable for finding powerful allies—or avoiding dangerous enemies.

Blake continued experimenting, testing his newfound powers in various scenarios. He practised switching between different levels of activation, refining his control over the golden beams. He discovered that with careful focus, he could scan an area for hidden objects or magical signatures without causing any visible effects.

Hours passed in the blink of an eye as Blake explored the full extent of the Eye of Truth's capabilities. By the end of his tests, he was more convinced than ever that this artifact was a game-changer.

Standing in the now-restored Room of Requirement, Blake clenched his fists, determination gleaming in his enhanced eyes. "With this power, nothing can stop me. Whether it's treasure chests, alliances, or enemies—everything will bow to the truth."
