Chapter 22

The table was filled with silverware clinking against the plates.

Everyone was quiet and even a slightest pin drop could cause a heavy noise.

The meal was delicious, since the chef had gone all out to preparing a special meal for the family.

Chaeyoung took small bites on her food, keeping an eye on Nari and Elvis.

She felt a pang of pain in her heart looking at the two, even if they looked uncomfortable because of her presence on the table.

Chaeyoung bites from her food became smaller and smaller causing Yoonjin to stare at her.

'You don't like it?'. He asked in a whisper.

Chaeyoung jerked up from her thoughts and turned to look at Yoonjin, who had a concerned look on his face.

She gave him a smile and shook her head.

'I do, i was just carried away'. Chaeyoung reassured Yoonjin who didn't seem to believe her, as his eyes were still fixed on her.

'It's about them right?'. Yoonjin asked Chaeyoung, her hand on the fork she held immediately tightened and her jaw clenched.

Yoonjin placed his hand on her and smiled.

'Just act like they aren't here, it's just me, mom and oldman Park'.

Chaeyoung stared at Yoonjin and soon became calm, she gave him a small smile and continued eating her food.

Unknown to them the old man had been staring at the duo, with a smile on his face.

The worries he had towards Yoonjin's relationship life, was slowly dying down.

Seeing how much he cared the lady beside him made him rest assured.

He looked at Elvis and noticed him intense gaze on Chaeyoung, Nari on the other hand looked nervously while eating her food, trying hard not look up at Chaeyoung.

He wondered what had happened among the four of them.

He had noticed their awkwardness when Chaeyoung and a Yoonjin entered the room, widening his curiosity.

He looked at Butler Oh who was sitting right beside and gave him a smile, which he nodded.

The dinner being a short and an efficient affair, with all of them getting done with their meals, quickly and politely.

The old man leaned on his chair and sighed.

'That was an excellent meal, don't you think'. He asked, with his voice gruff with satisfaction.

Everyone mumbled in agreement at the old man's question.

'Chaeyoung I noticed you came with your office clothes, why is that?'. The old man asked.

Chaeyoung smiled and fixed her posture on the chair before speaking.

'I had some emergency at the office and I had it fixed late, I could not back home to get the dress Yoonjin had gotten me..' Chaeyoung stood up and bowed.

'I'm so sorry, I wish I can make up for my mistake'. She continued.

The old man shook his head and chuckled.

'It's fine child, at least you managed to be present here'. The old man said and told her to take her sit.

Chaeyoung stared at Yoonjin who gave her a small smile.

'Nari, you've been quiet for a while now, what is wrong?'. They heard Jiwoo say after a while of being silent.

Elvis raised his head to look at his mother, seeing a sinister smile on her face, he knew she was up to no good, making him go back to the question he had in mind.

…why she did not like Nari…

Elvis held Nari's hand to stop her from answering, since he knew how nervous she was.

'Mom, please…' Elvis said looking at his mother, who shrugged.

Nari but her lips angrily, wondering what she did wrong that made Elvis' mother despise her so much.

She had to use her innocent charm to avoid all that she was trying to do, she could not let Elvis' mother be a barrier to being with Elvis' and gaining the favor of the old man.

Nari raised her head to look at Jiwoo, she tucked her hair behind her ear.

'I'm sorry mother, I didn't know what to say, I'm afraid of saying something wrong'. Nari replied.

Jiwoo scoffed and crossed her hand in front of her chest, and leaned back on the chair.

'Say the wrong thing?…. Like what Nari?'.

Me Minho held Jiwoo's hand to stop her from making the you girl uncomfortable but she shrugged his hand off waiting for an answer from Nari.

Nari could not take the nasty attitude from her anymore, she had to do something about Jiwoo, even if it meant for her doing something unreasonable.

Her eyes immediately became wet as she stared at her.

'I'm sorry mother, I know you don't want your son to be with someone like me, a mere actress..' She paused and raised her head to stop the tears from falling.

'I'm sorry, but I love Elvis, and I can't be without me…no we can't leave without him'. Nari stated.

It was time to use her triumph card, her unborn baby.

All eyes turned towards her, upon what she meant by 'We'.

'What do you mean we, child'. The old man asked.

Nari smiled inwardly.

'I'm carrying a child, Elvis' child'.
