An Enemy Appears! Oversized Rat

Hunting, Scaly really had no clue how to do it, but figured that she would get it eventually with time. After all, all she had to do was kill whatever creature she could find in this dungeon, and she would level up and become stronger. Maybe she could even evolve quickly and get closer to her dream of becoming a dragon and soaring high up into the clouds above and lazing around in whatever body of water she found along the way.

Well, at least I would like to believe that the clouds above me were real...

Sadly, she knew from the information she got earlier that she was currently inside a dungeon at the moment. Meaning she was somewhere underground.

Dungeons really are amazing...

Thinking this to herself, Scaly looked up at the sun shining high above with a few clouds passing by every now and then.

The dungeon that Scaly currently found herself inside had created an artificial sun, clouds, and sky above.

Dungeons are really powerful. Able to create a world of their own. Maybe I can do so as well in the future when I become a dragon!?

"Squeeeeak!"

The lizard lost in thought about its brilliant future as an all-powerful dragon, was suddenly interrupted by a loud squeaking sound coming from somewhere in front of her, as 'something' crawled out from beneath the roots of a nearby tree.

[Oversized Rat, lvl 2]

[Description: A rat that is too big to be called a rat. Maybe it's a mutated dog?]

Blinking her eyes in surprise, Scaly had no idea what the creature in front was, as she slightly narrowed her eyes while looking at the text that had suddenly appeared directly in front of her.

The text had appeared the moment she focused on the rat standing beside a tree in front of her, devouring what looked like a squirrel. The screen was like the one that appeared when choosing what she could reincarnate as and went away quickly and reappeared again with nothing more than a single thought.

Back to the present, Scaly looked shiveringly at the giant rat devouring the poor squirrel.

For now, she decided to quickly hide beneath the giant roots of a nearby tree and observe the rat without blinking as it devoured what remained of the squirrel.

'What to do? How do I even beat something like that? M-maybe I can try and use the water magic? But I have not tried it yet… How do I even use water magic in the first place…?'

Her thoughts running rampant in her mind as she prepared to attack the oversized rat with her water magic, Scaly slowly began to move closer to the rat.

Luckily for her, the rat was way too obsessed with eating the squirrel and did not notice the small lizard moving closer and closer to it.

'Here goes nothing!'

Focusing as calmed down, Scaly tried to gather what she presumed was the magic inside of her and soon a small ball of water the size of an apple appeared in front of her small lizard form. Gently floating without showing any signs of movement.

Swish!

Relying on her instincts alone, Scaly commanded the ball of water and caused it to fly directly towards the still unaware rat, still busy devouring the squirrel in front of it.

Pssst

"SQUEAAAK!"

Letting out a loud squeak filled with pain, the rat fell to the ground with a slight thump. Blood still leaking from the hole in the middle of its stomach where the water ball of Scaly had passed through without much resistance.

With a slight tingling sound, another text message appeared in front of Scaly.

She had won her first battle... And quite easily at that! Maybe she was more powerful than she had first thought?!

Thinking about how easily the big rat was taken care of, Scaly triumphantly walked towards the rat's dead body, only to quickly duck down beneath a nearby tree root within the next second.

[Giant Earth Lizard, lvl ??]

[Description: A Giant lizard skilled in earth magic]

*!* Too low level to inspect *!*

It was the giant lizard she had seen the first time she had opened her eyes after reincarnating.

The giant earth lizard, as it was called, proudly walked up to the dead body of the rat Scaly had just defeated and gulped it down in one mouthful. Taking what remained of the squirrel down with it, before lazily moving deeper into the forest.

Scaly was way too scared to move during the ordeal and even after it left, Scaly just sat there beneath the tree root and waited. Not wanting to take the risk of going out too early and running into the giant lizard.

'Wait! It took the rat's body! My prey!'

Feeling a slight anger towards the giant lizard that shamelessly stole her prey, Scaly found a new goal to complete before she left the dungeon.

Just you wait, you damn lizard! Wait… I am a lizard… Just you wait you damn… big lizard? Yes! Just you wait you damn big lizard! I will definitely hunt you down in the future! big lizard!

Cursing in the direction that the giant lizard had left in, the small lizard Scaly soon resumed her hunt for other oversized rats in an attempt to increase her own strength and successfully evolve towards becoming a dragon.

[*Ding* Reached level 2]

It took over 2 hours, but she had managed to reach level 2 after killing another 9 oversized rats. Surprisingly, the oversized rats were almost everywhere in the lush forest and easy to kill with her water magic.

The only reason why it took a whole 2 hours to level up was because she would need to recover after using magic and the oversized rats grouping up together from time to time. Other than that, she had also managed to find a staircase leading downwards, deeper into the dungeon.

But it seemed dangerous to go deeper into the dungeon. After all, the giant earth lizard wandered around that area a lot.

For now, Scaly decided to hide inside a hollowed-out tree root as she had decided to carefully inspect her skills. Maybe finally finding out what they actually did.

Race: Lizard

Level: 2/5, 0 %

STR: 2 |VIT: 3 | DEX: 2 | M:12

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline lvl 1], [Flight lvl 1], [Water Magic lvl 6]

My status had improved quite a bit after reaching level 2, all my stats had increased by one, with vitality increasing by a whole 2 points!

Smiling happily to herself, as she tried focusing on her skills, Scaly soon saw the now all too familiar screen appear in front of her once again.

[Dragon Bloodline lvl 1]: A faint amount of dragon blood flows in your body, +1 VIT per level. Allows evolution towards becoming a dragon. Level up to increase the amount of dragon blood present.

[Flight lvl 1]: Makes flying easier. You need wings or magic to fly.

[Water Magic lvl 6]: Allows the use of water magic.

Surprised after reading the descriptions, Scaly decided to look especially closely at her dragon bloodline skill. The skill would allow her to become a dragon in the future! Just like the winged humanoid had told her before she reincarnated into a lizard!

Seeing that it did indeed allow her to become a dragon in the future was a good motivation boost to work even harder and become a dragon as fast as possible.

With newfound energy, Scaly resumed her peaceful hunting of oversized rats.
