Sneaking closer to the place where the battle was taking place while also doing her best to avoid any of the other monsters looking for an opportunity to strike, Scaly could not help feeling a bit nervous when seeing just how many monsters had the same idea as her.
Although she was confident in herself and her own strength, she also understood that it was going to be hard to land a final blow on one of the two powerful monsters with so many competitors around.
Maybe it would be good to thin out the competition beforehand…
Narrowing both of her eyes into slits as this thought crossed her mind, Scaly inevitably glanced at a venomous spider hiding no more than a few meters away from her as it was slowly approaching the place where the cave troll and cave alligator were locked in a deadly battle for survival-
Swoosh~
And before the spider had any time to react, it felt something small hitting it.
Rustle~
Although it did not cause any damage, it inevitably ended up causing the venomous spider to come out of hiding for a split second-
Roar!?
Resulting in both the cave alligator and cave troll noticing its presence and seeing through its intentions...
ROAR!
Bang!
In the end, the cave troll made a move and casually threw a large stone that instantly crushed the poor venomous spider into a paste before it even had a chance to try and escape.
Not only did this display of raw strength from the cave troll make Scaly freeze for a short moment, but it also made the rest of the monster looking for an opportunity to strike hesitate at the display of power. Only now realizing that the cave troll could easily kill them with nothing more than a random stone on the ground.
Different from the rest of the monster however, the reason why she had frozen up on the spot for a short moment was not due to the fear of facing a powerful monster many times stronger than herself, but due to the fact that she had realized just how much stronger she would become if she managed to kill the cave troll.
Unconsciously, Scaly had already targeted the cave troll instead of the cave alligator. Not because it was the weakest of the two, but because it had displayed the most strength just now. Not to mention, when looking at the battle between the two, it was clear that the cave troll was slowly starting to win out against the cave alligator.
Other than that, she also understood that she would stand a far better chance of landing the killing blow if she decided to target the stronger of the two monsters. After all, the rest of the monsters present were likely to try and go for the weakest among the two powerful monsters.
BOOM-!
ROOOOAR!
Just at this moment, the cave troll seemed to have broken through the tough scales of the cave alligator, causing it to start bleeding profusely. Making it obvious to anyone present that it was about to lose the battle with the cave troll.
Swish-!
Swish-!
Swish-!
Knowing this, a large number of monsters who had been lying in wait for this kind of opportunity rushed out from all around the cave alligator filled with killing intent.
[Venom Cave Spider, lvl 12]
[Yellow-Red Salamander Snake, lvl 15]
[Green Eyed…]
Not only were there a lot of different monsters Scally had never seen before, but there were also quite a few monsters above her own level. However, the one monster among them that caught her attention the most was a weird slug with purple spots all over its body.
[Purple Spotted Slug, lvl 14]
[Description: A large slug with purple dots all over its body, its size is around that an adult human arm and its well known to eat its prey without killing it. The slug is known as a delicacy in some human kingdoms, while others are vehemently against eating it. Often described as having a mild earthly flavor and a slightly chewy texture.]
Inspecting it more closely to get its description, Scaly had no idea what to think after learning that the slug filled with purple spots that looked nothing short of poisonous was a delicacy in some human kingdoms.
Humans… Really weird… Do they eat everything?
Only able to think about this as she recalled how humans seemed to eat almost every single one of the monsters she had encountered so far, Scaly watched how the slug in question reached the cave alligator and began aggressively trying to chew into its neck.
Roar!
Unfortunately for this slug and the rest of the monsters who had made a move to try and kill the weakened cave alligator, it was nowhere near weak enough for them to do any real damage, as it violently ripped apart all of these monsters before they could do anything. The poisonous looking slug included.
Puff~
However, when the slug was ripped apart by the sharp claws of the cave alligator, it exploded into a large cloud of purple mist that soon engulfed the entire battlefield. Only barely stopping short of where she was currently hiding.
R-roar!
Ssss~!
The effect of the purple mist kicked in almost immediately, as some of the weaker monsters inside the purple-colored mist suddenly began writhing on the ground in pain. No longer showing any care of accidently revealing their locations to the cave alligator and cave troll-
Luckily for these monsters now trying their best to escape from the purple mist with what little energy they had left after fighting off the poison that was coursing through their bodies, the cave alligator and the cave troll were also affected by the purple-colored mist.
ROAR!
However, although both of them had been affected by the poisonous mist, it was clear that the cave troll was in a far worse condition compared to the cave alligator that seemed to have some kind of poison immunity.
Not something Scaly had expected to happen. Having thought the cave troll would have done better than the cave alligator when it came to resisting the poison…
