After the battle (2)

Seth ORLETH

After stripping the corpses of these hideous creatures of their essence stones, they gathered them in the middle of the clearing, and they covered them with wood and dry leaves that could be found everywhere in the forest.

What had been most difficult was piling the corpses on top of each other and recovering limbs and organs that fell off when they tried to carry them.

And the pools of blood which were beginning to dry made the atmosphere pestilential.

''It's sickening!!'' Seth complained, as he picked up his foot which had been splashed in a small puddle of blood.

"I can't wait until I learn to fight, I can say goodbye to the cleaning crew."

"Why don't you stop complaining boss? If you wanted to fight that much you should have started by strengthening your arms!" One of his comrades mocked.

"Go back to work or I'll put your name on my report" he growled.

The young man quickly fell silent and ran away at high speed.

Seth sighed.

"Ahh… power is the best thing to have."

Seth had been made leader of the cleaning crew by Cliff personally, apparently he had deemed him more reliable.

Since it was his master who had personally appointed him, he could not refuse the position, for fear of going against his master's wishes.

Seth didn't know that if he had refused, Cliff wouldn't have been against it, in fact Cliff didn't care. what had led him to this choice was because he often saw him lurking around him.

Seth walked towards the middle of the clearing, where the corpses were piled up.

The pile already towered over him in height.

Seth held his nose, sparing himself from breathing in the putrid air of the atmosphere.

"Three hundred and fifty-seven," a voice suddenly said from behind him.

"Uh…!!?" Seth turned around, confused.

He saw the silhouette of a young woman approaching, an elf, her long blond hair waving in the cold breeze that announced the end of dusk.

"That was the one I saw at the clan" he thought.

"Three hundred and fifty-eight, if we take into account the goblin lord that Sir Cliff had killed outside the clearing," she continued, her blue eyes staring at the pile of corpses.

"Was that that much!!?"

The young woman had picked up a long wooden rod, she closed her eyes and suddenly the end of the rod caught fire.

How the elves used magic was still a mystery to us other clans. And the fact that they are not too open to sharing their knowledge has fueled a lot of hatred on their part.

She held it out and gave him a smirk.

Seth sighed deeply.

"That too is up to me to do…"

Seth took it in his hand and moved closer from the pile.

He set it on fire.

Thanks to the dead leaves, the fire quickly spread to all the corpses. The smell of burning flesh had filled the entire clearing.

Seth took a few steps back, standing next to the elf.

He cleared his throat...

" You're right. "

"I am right !?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Three hundred and fifty-eight goblins gone up in smoke."
