Cross the forest

Sounds of rapid footsteps moved firmly through the forest, a troop of more than seven hundred people marched with a common goal.

They no longer had time to rest, where they were going was far away, it would take them more than ten hours of walking, an average human would not be able to survive this walk, but they could since they were all demi-humans and "augmented" ones at that.

They were twice as strong as a normal human and now that they have had their essence stones increased, they are now twice as strong as they already were.

Among them, a young half-ogre carried heavy luggage on his back, he crossed the crowd to join these companions, a dark expression appeared on his face.

" It's too heavy !" Seth complained, adjusting the bag tightly so that it wouldn't drag on the ground, after all, what he was carrying was something precious.

Throughout the journey they kept coming across creatures that wanted them dead, even being numerous, these creatures were crazy enough to attack them.

Of course they were quickly taken care of by the officers who led the troop.

Even if he suffered from the heaviness of the bag, Seth could no longer suppress the feeling of pride that bubbled up inside him, even if it was not him, with his own hands who had killed these creatures, he felt proud .

Proud, because his patriarch and his officer could kill creatures classified as "monster" so nonchalantly. A herd of iron monkeys couldn't be a problem for the two of them, not to mention the two archers who accompanied them, they were just as terrible, they never missed their targets.

But the result of all that was that he had to carry a bag full of essence stones and some monster skins. They were heading towards the dwarf clan, it was quite normal to stock up on supplies for these little elves who are keen on their crafts.

The road was long and they had nothing that would allow them to know how many hours they had walked, all he knew was that they were close.

"Yeah, yeah, we get told that every two hours." Seth scoffed under his breath.

"Did you say something?" asked a soft voice behind him.

Seth shivered when he heard the voice, it was familiar.

He quickly turned his head when he saw a young woman with frowning brown skin, a thin horn on her forehead, and short silver hair. She was dressed in a set of leather armor and had a large halberd resting on her shoulder.

The young woman looked at him, raising a concern, wearing a curious expression.

"Is it too heavy for you?" she asked him, staring directly at the bag he was carrying.

"Yes Lady Dahlia, she constantly pulls me towards the ground, I feel like it's the bag carrying me instead of me." He replied, wearing his most dejected expression.

"Don't look at me with those dejected "kobold" eyes, I can't do anything for you" she had rejected his attempt to ask for help "we're almost there, take it upon yourself for a few more moments"

Seth, disappointed, continued on his way without saying anything, the bag made his steps heavy and it was difficult for him to walk.

So an hour passed, then two and then three, they crossed the forest without taking a break.

Just as Seth was about to open his mouth to complain for the umpteenth time, a noise startled him.

Howls of anger, screams of agony resonated like a cacophony of indescribable noises.

" A battlefield ! »

All the soldiers in the troop put themselves on guard, they quickly drew their weapons and calmly advanced towards the place where the noises were coming from.

Lord Rakahn and Lady Dahlia went ahead to check the source of the noises.

As they got closer they heard the sounds coming to them much clearer, soldiers screaming for their mother, soldiers shouting for help... everything reached them through the wind blowing in the forest.

"Legionnaire, Prepare yourselves!!" shouted Lord Rakahn "I think we have arrived!"
