Soldiers' parade

Yadha DAKHAT

It was a cloudy day, and the air seemed humid in the room I had been assigned, so I decided to go out and get some fresh air...

Today, the general advised me to take some rest, although I wanted to refuse, out of respect for my superior's orders I agreed not to take part in the hunting teams.

I walked quietly down the alley, I could admire the speed with which the houses were built in such a short time, perhaps because it came from their habits as forest nomads, of being forced to move their houses several times. habitats in just a few decades because of hordes of monsters?

Honestly it was so sad, among them there are those who are attached to their old habitats, it could be that these were their places of birth, meetings with their soul mates and others..., It took away from us the heart to leave everything behind, go very far away, to build a new home which would itself be abandoned later.

"Should we really trust him?"

I swallowed, an ironic smile appeared on my lips, I felt a little guilty for thinking about these futile things when the answer was right in front of me.

As He had promised us, we were able to achieve a result.

As I walked headlong, I failed to notice that I had already passed the base and was heading towards the southern entrance to the fortress, at which point I raised my head and saw that everything everyone stood at the door. I furrowed my brows, gauging what was happening.

I saw General Rakahn and several others rush out of the base, split the crowd in two before standing in front of the gate.

"What is the situation ?" I asked Officer Renald, settling firmly next to them.

"It's the fangs and the claws, they're here!" he replied.

My eyes widened, I tried to answer but what came out was just a stutter.

"A-are you serious?, they're already here!!? Wasn't it yesterday that we sent the report message?"

He looked at me in the corner of his eye.

"Honestly, I don't know either!!" He said in an even tone.

"Apparently a guard had seen them coming from a distance, so he ran over to tell us."

I shuddered when I heard the gate creak, if they are already here then that means the day of the rescue operation has arrived.

Once the door was opened, several people entered, all of them unfit for combat; They were foster mothers, pregnant women, elderly people, children under fourteen, they were marching towards the entrance, while we had split into two to make room for them.

At the same time, several soldiers joined the parade, they marched quietly with a proud look, their armor stained with blood, their hands resting on their weapons.

They gave off such dense energy, their bodies, we could clearly tell that like us they were also entitled to a real battle.

A moment later, once all the soldiers finished their entrance parade, we heard a silence, I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, actively heightening my senses, the hairs on my body were quick to stand up.

"I felt it" I said to myself, this powerful and dense energy which flowed outside the fortress, this monster was advancing towards us calmly as if it were the most natural thing there was, I shivered, a sweat cold ran down my spine when my senses alerted me to the danger I faced.

But it was not fear that I felt, on the contrary I felt reassured, this creature which was approaching was my whole reason for renewed confidence, my faith, the one which still gave me a reason to live.

Three people had come in, and the air had suddenly become heavy, when I saw them approaching, I felt my legs buckle, I fell to my knees, bowing my head deeply.

"WE GREETING THE ENTRANCE OF OUR MASTER!!! »» We shouted, the cacophony of our voices resounding like thunder in the forest.

I put all my strength into my voice, wanting to convey mine to him with more respect and all the gratitude I felt towards him.

The three men returned to the fortress, signaling to us officers to get up. I saw Sir Kido, Juggernaut and the leader of the dwarf clan with a terrified expression on their faces, I immediately released my most beautiful macabre smile.

" Serves them right ! » I thought, I cursed them in my mind, these ignorant people who once dared to underestimate my lord.

I looked away and proudly followed the master, as he climbed onto a wooden structure we had prepared for his arrival.
