Cain walked quickly through the corridors of the fortress, followed by Viola, who was carrying a thick folder containing the day's reports.
The afternoon sun cast a faint light on the gray stones of the walls, but Cain didn't linger on the view. His priority was to ensure that every project was progressing smoothly. Although most people had a lunch break at two in the afternoon, he didn't have the luxury of stopping.
"Viola, what do the latest reports say about the public baths construction?" he asked as he descended the stairs leading to the work area.
"The foundations are nearly finished, but a few complications were reported. A minor landslide slowed down the workers last night. Barock has already taken measures to reinforce the supports, but this could delay the deadline by a day or two," Viola replied, adjusting her glasses and flipping through her notes.
