Akumu slowly pulled out a chair, inviting Kido to sit, but the latter remained standing, his red eyes fixed on the map spread across the table. The heavy silence in the room was broken only by Katia's nervous tapping of her nails on the wood. Akumu exchanged a quick glance with her before crossing his arms.
"Well?" Akumu asked, his deep voice betraying a hint of impatience. "What details did they leave in this report?"
Kido took a deep breath, his fingers tightening on the edge of the table.
"Not much," he admitted. "The survivors spoke of a swarm of colossal monsters, but more importantly, of a presence. Something… or a demon in particular, manipulating the other creatures in the tunnels. There's an intelligence behind these attacks."
Akumu leaned over the table, tracing the winding lines of the tunnels drawn on the map with his fingers.
"And this demon? Any description? Any identifiable weakness?"
Kido shook his head slowly.
