the other side

Looking back, all they saw was a thick field of darkness, the light vaguely shining around was not enough to pierce through that darkness. The sands had risen to the sky, covering the light of the moon, the moon couldn't shine through and their bright torches could shine more than a few centimetres around them. The sandstorm was too dense to let the light rays pass through them. Moving at a speed that surpassed that of gaseous form, the sand particles moved so fast that it looked like they were stuck together.

Dull and concise, like a fly brushing past their skins, yet even through the clothes on their bodies, the impact of the sand molecules could be felt after a few seconds of brushing past their bodies. Unfortunately they weren't given seconds to mourn the pain, more and more continued to hit against their bodies causing them to grit their teeth. Against their exposed skin, it could only leave a red spot behind.
