Ahn Kyunghee wanted nothing more than to move on from a stigmatizing past as a druggie’s daughter. However, fate had other things in store. A special person from her past reappears and gives her a whole new meaning to perseverance, love and loyalty.

<p>They paid for a room at the closest karaoke place to Jiwon's neighborhood. It also happened to be one of their top ten. Not only was it cheaper than other karaoke clubs in the city, but the middle-aged couple who ran the establishment was extremely friendly and kind. Since Jiwon was a frequent visitor, the couple always offered them free snacks on the house. Sometimes, the couple even gave them extra free minutes for the room. </p>

<p>The two women sang their hearts out in the small, private room with its dark yet ambient lighting. Opened snack bags and empty liquor bottled sat haphazardly on the table. Jiwon and Kyunghee each had their own microphone as they belted out off-key notes while dancing up and down, hyped up by the music. </p>
