"My mother disappeared exactly twenty-eight hours after your mother. The last person my mother was seen speaking to was Gong Miryung."

Her brain was seemed to have entered a foggy forest. She didn't understand what he was trying to say. It was a long time before she found her voice again. "How—How can that be? I—I don't remember this...Are you sure?"

There was a sad smile on his face. "Positive. You don't know how many times I've rifled through my mother's case. Don't you remember being questioned by the detectives that day? But I wouldn't expect you to remember. The detective's notes said you and your little sister were quite shaken up. After all, your mother had just...left." He didn't want to use the word 'abandon'.
