The people inside the apartment trembled in fear upon hearing the threats. "W-We... we have nothing to eat. On the tenth floor, there's a family with a lot of supplies. They eat meat every day. Go find them."
The two men outside, their eyes gleaming with excitement, temporarily spared this household upon hearing the information. "We'll come back to deal with you later."
One of the men noticed the gun twirling in Alice's fingers. His face changed, and he raised his hands in a surrender gesture, trying to please her. "Uh, well, we were looking for our relatives. We got lost. Sorry to disturb you. We'll leave now."
Backing away step by step towards the staircase, they saw that Alice showed no intention of shooting and felt relieved.
As they turned to run down the stairs, gunshots rang out!
Both men collapsed on the ground, blood filling the air.
The gunshots startled both the Allen family members and the gang downstairs, prompting them to rush upstairs.
Atticus was the first to come out, frowning when he saw the bodies at the staircase. "Who are they?"
"Robbers." The reason Alice didn't use a suppressed gun was to lure those men upstairs.
Five minutes later, they finally heard footsteps, estimating that the gang had reached the tenth floor.
The leader of the gang, holding a gun, gestured for his followers to tread lightly.
"You guys go up and check what's going on." The leader motioned behind him.
Reaching the staircase on the thirteenth floor, they discovered the corpse. Since the other party had a gun, they couldn't act recklessly.
Two men stood behind the staircase door on the thirteenth floor and shouted, "Those upstairs, come out."
Alice thought those people might foolishly charge upstairs. Calmly, she opened the iron door, glanced downstairs at the safety door, and decided to put away the pistol, exchanging it for a sniper rifle.
Alexander patted her shoulder, "I'll lure them out."
After saying this, Alexander crossed past her and shouted to the people below, "I'm here, a bunch of cowards."
One man peeked through the door crack, seeing only Alexander. He quietly aimed his gun at him and quickly fired.
"Bang~"
Just a second before the man fired, a bullet hit him right in the forehead.
His companion, seeing this, immediately crouched behind the door, forehead dampened with cold sweat.
Others joined from behind, observing the situation behind the door. "How is it? Can we take them down?"
"No, they have guns too. Let's retreat."
After a brief discussion, the leader fired a shot towards the upper floor. Alexander swiftly dodged, narrowly avoiding the bullet.
"Little sister, are you playing this big?" Alexander widened his eyes. This was the kind of thing you'd see on a battlefield!
"They almost hurt you. I had to avenge you," Alice said without hesitation, aiming at the door and unleashing a barrage of gunfire.
Half a minute later, Alice stopped. She listened carefully, and there was no sound behind the door.
Arnold followed up, kicking open the door. Several men had not escaped the hail of bullets and lay on the ground, lifeless and terrifying.
Alice gathered her belongings from the car. Even though they had witnessed it before, it still felt miraculous.
Three days later, a few personnel from the safety house arrived in the community.
They entered the control room and activated the community's speakers to broadcast the news about seeking refuge in the safety house.
"The M Safe House has been completed, with relatively complete infrastructure. If you can't survive outside, you can stay at the safe house. It's free of charge."
Upon hearing the broadcast, those who hadn't left the community came out, and eventually, everyone unanimously decided to go to the safety house.
The Allen family also decided to go to the safety house. Atticus pondered, "Staying here without leaving makes us an easy target. There will be countless people harassing us every day."
Alice nodded gently, "Exactly. If we're not comfortable at the safety house, we can leave. I have supplies in my space, and we don't need to worry about food. We can stay wherever we want."
Alice opened her car and loaded the luggage. The family had three cars, providing plenty of space.
At that moment, a young woman approached Alice's car, politely smiling, "Excuse me, are you going to the safety house?"
Alice nodded, "Yes."
The woman's face lit up, "What a coincidence! We're heading to the safety house too. Why don't we go together? It would be safer."
"Your car isn't full, and our family is small, just enough to fill it." The woman continued shamelessly, seeing that the sun was about to rise. If they couldn't reach the safety house by ten o'clock, they might end up roasted on the way. Compared to her own life, a bit of shamelessness was nothing.
Alice withdrew her gaze and stepped on the gas, driving away.
Seeing the family leave, the woman slumped to the ground. She had thought Alice would take her life, but surprisingly, she let her go.
A kind resident helped her up, "What did she say to you? Why are you so scared?"
The woman forced a smile, "Nothing... nothing at all."
Outside the gate of the safety house, a long queue had formed, with everyone eagerly waiting to get in with their belongings.
At this point, it was already 9 a.m., and the intense sunlight, approaching fifty degrees Celsius, made it unbearable. Many people were hiding beside and behind Alice's car. She closed the car curtains, leaving only a gap to watch the queue in front.
Alice ignored them, continuing to snack and watch shows. She had air conditioning in the car, and she didn't care how long it would take to enter the safety house.
However, the people outside seemed unwilling to accept it. They not only knocked on the car windows and pulled the car doors but also climbed onto the car roof and pounded on it.
Unable to tolerate it any longer, Alice pulled open the curtain, opened a gap in the car window, and asked displeasedly, "What's going on?"
The people crowded around both sides of the car felt the cool air inside, immediately reaching their hands over, trying to pull the car window down.
Alice directly took out her knife, pretending to strike, and the group of people immediately pulled their hands back.
"No more knocking, or I won't be polite." Alice pursed her lips, threatening coldly.
Not only Alice but also others were harassed by them. Private car owners had no way to deal with it, reluctantly ignoring them and letting them be mischievous.
Some people were bothered to the point where they had to give them something to eat, thinking it would keep things calm. Little did they know that it only emboldened these people, who came one after another, demanding forcefully if not given willingly.
Alice looked around at the people and asked indifferently, "Whose children are these? Do you plan to discipline them yourselves, or should I take care of it?"
People around were just watching, none spoke up, and no one cared.
Alice sneered. Since that was the case, they couldn't blame her for being ruthless. She directly grabbed the hand of one boy and forcefully pulled him down. The boy resisted, using both hands and feet, trying to climb back up. The two children in the car also reached out to pull him down.
