Chapter 531: Imaginations and Battle

At first, the werewolves and vampires didn't react much, especially the vampires, since it was only the werewolves who were dying. The vampires didn't pay much attention to it.

As the hunt began, Moon Knight finally realized how to explore the origins of werewolf power. In fact, he didn't need to investigate the truth himself. All he had to do was use his crescent darts to kill the werewolves, and the darts would automatically absorb their blood, beginning the exploration of the origins of their power.

This was why Khonshu had given Moon Knight the crescent darts. If it were just Moon Knight's strength, it wouldn't have been enough for Khonshu to bestow a weapon containing part of his divine power.

"What's going on?!" As Moon Knight continued his covert werewolf hunt, Marius, the werewolf leader this time, finally noticed something was wrong.

When they first arrived in America, unaware of the local situation, the werewolves and vampires sent their underlings to investigate. They found the battlefield but discovered few clues, only confirming that March and Nell were likely dead.

However, it wasn't long before Marius realized he couldn't contact his subordinates, causing him to panic. He instinctively thought they had been ambushed by American authorities again.

"Damn it! Did they find us so quickly? Could William's previous guess be correct, that we've been under surveillance by the American government?" Unaware of Moon Knight's presence, Marius's heart sank when he couldn't contact his subordinates. He hurried to contact the vampire leader, thinking they were in the same situation.

"Your subordinates are missing? Are you serious? Mine are still in contact!" The vampire leader was momentarily stunned by Marius's words. He had thought his own vampires might be in trouble too. After some checking, he sighed in relief and then hesitated, looking at Marius. "Are you sure you can't contact your people? Nothing's wrong on my end. Our men explored nearby areas and even cooperated in some places. There's no reason why only your subordinates are missing..."

"Some are still in contact, but many have gone silent. I suspect they might be targeted by local authorities!" Marius looked deeply at the vampire leader. Hearing that the vampires were fine made him suspect that the vampires might be behind the werewolves' disappearances. After all, why would the authorities only target the werewolves and not the vampires?

As he spoke, Marius watched the vampire leader's expression closely, trying to find any clues to prove his suspicion.

At the same time, Marius began concocting a conspiracy theory, thinking the entire situation might be a plot between the vampires and humans. The vampires, not wanting to merge with the werewolves, might have colluded with humans to orchestrate this.

Otherwise, why were only the werewolves affected? Why were the American authorities primarily targeting the werewolves when they attacked the European stronghold, with the vampires being only secondary targets?

Moreover, if the vampires were also targeted, why didn't they hold the werewolves accountable afterward? To Marius, this was a sign of guilt!

Marius's imagination was running wild, and his mind was filled with conspiracy theories. The more he believed in these theories, the more hostile his gaze towards the vampire leader became.

The vampire leader, on the other hand, was utterly confused by Marius's reaction. Although he didn't know what Marius was thinking, Marius's expression was clear. The vampire leader was bewildered that Marius was turning against him just because the werewolves were in trouble while the vampires were not. Was that really necessary?

While the vampire leader and Marius were staring each other down, Moon Knight had stealthily reached their secret gathering place. He had killed most of the easy targets outside, so it was time to target the werewolves inside the base.

However, upon arriving, Moon Knight became more serious, knowing the enemies inside would be much tougher than the ones he had faced so far.

Facing Nell had been challenging enough, even with his moonlight powers. Now, the werewolf leader Marius was even stronger. Despite having the crescent darts, Moon Knight felt unsure of his chances.

Moreover, there was not just Marius but also a vampire of similar strength. Sneaking up on them would be difficult, and if he couldn't take out Marius quickly, he would have to face both powerful foes at once.

While Moon Knight was hesitating, observing the secret base, a loud crash echoed from within.

"Boom!"

In the center of the secret base, a building suddenly collapsed, and a figure flew out, startling Moon Knight.

"What the hell?! Have I been discovered? How?" Moon Knight saw the building collapse and a figure flying out, and he immediately prepared to escape.

If he could continue his stealthy assassinations, he was confident. But with his cover blown, there was no way he could stay. Even with his ability to resurrect, dying was painful, and Moon Knight didn't want to go through that again.

Moreover, resurrection wasn't guaranteed. Last time, he revived because Nell's attention was diverted by Robert, who beat him badly. This time, if Moon Knight died again, who knew if the werewolves or vampires would devour his body?

Moon Knight couldn't be sure he could resurrect if his body was eaten. Even if he did revive, his strength wouldn't change. He wouldn't become significantly stronger with each resurrection.

Facing such a dangerous situation, Moon Knight turned to flee without hesitation. But as he ran, he noticed no one was chasing him...

"I'll tear you apart!" A roar came from the sky. When Moon Knight looked back, he saw a large werewolf leaping from the rubble, attacking the vampire leader, who was dodging the werewolf's attacks.

"Are you crazy? Why are you attacking me out of nowhere? Do you think I killed your werewolves?!" The vampire leader was furious. Although he hadn't taken any serious hits, being attacked and accused like this was unacceptable.

"Who else but you filthy, scheming vampires?!" Marius roared back as he lunged at the vampire leader again. "If not you, why couldn't you explain earlier? Why were you so defensive?"

Earlier, when Marius had stared at the vampire leader with suspicion, the vampire leader couldn't take it anymore. His status in the clan wasn't lower than Marius's, and even Marcus had never looked at him like that. Just as the vampire leader was about to rebuke Marius, Marius thought he was about to turn hostile and attacked first.

The vampire leader, reacting quickly, had kicked Marius away, causing the scene that had startled Moon Knight.

This kick only confirmed Marius's suspicions, fueling his rage. He vowed to tear the vampire leader apart to avenge his fallen comrades!

"What? They're fighting each other?" Moon Knight, who had been about to flee, stopped and watched the fight. "Weren't these vampires and werewolves supposed to be allied? Why do they seem to hate each other? Did the vampires take the blame for me?"

Moon Knight smiled, seeing how this situation was working in his favor. He could now take out his two toughest opponents with minimal effort!

Unbeknownst to Moon Knight, his werewolf hunting had only sparked the existing tensions between the vampire and werewolf leaders. Their animosity had been brewing for a long time, far worse than the camaraderie among their subordinates.

At least the lower-ranking vampires and werewolves had tried to cooperate, treating each other as family after being ordered to improve relations. Some even became close friends.

"Why are they fighting?" The lower-ranking vampires and werewolves were confused, watching their leaders battle. There were more vampires than werewolves, thanks to Moon Knight, but even with the numerical advantage, they didn't want to fight their confused werewolf counterparts.

Both sides tried to approach the central battlefield, wanting to understand what was happening. They had come to investigate their comrades' deaths, not to become enemies...

Unfortunately, the vampire leader and Marius were too powerful. Even though the vampires and werewolves weren't afraid of injury and healed quickly, they couldn't get close to the fight without getting hurt, leaving them more confused.

"Opportunity!" Moon Knight, seeing the vampires and werewolves injured by the battle's aftermath, knew it was time to act.

He couldn't face Marius and the vampire leader directly, but sneaking through the shadows to kill the remaining werewolves was something he excelled at...

Thanks to Khonshu's powers, Moon Knight could manipulate small areas of light, making it easier to hide in the shadows and move stealthily.

"Thud!"

"Thud!"

One by one, werewolves fell in the darkness, their blood pooling on the ground. Both the vampires and werewolves quickly noticed something was wrong, their heightened senses picking up the scent of blood and the presence of many drained werewolf corpses...
