Chapter 9 : Secrets

*Grace*

The chatter of well-dressed guests filled the opulent dining room as I entered. The table was impeccably laid, the chandelier lights reflecting off polished silverware and delicate crystal glasses. Sarah had outdone herself with this dinner. I couldn't help but marvel at the exquisite details of the Biltmore Estate. I'd been there for a few days and the place still managed to impress me every time.

"Grace, you made it!" Sarah greeted me with a radiant smile, looking effortlessly elegant in a soft lavender dress that hugged her athletic figure just right. Her hazel eyes sparkled with excitement.

As she hugged me, guilt felt like a punch in my stomach, crawling its way up to my throat. I shouldn't be doing any of this to her. It wasn't fair. Sarah had been nothing but a good friend to me all these years, yet here I was, nourishing feelings for her father and allowing my desire for him to overcome my friendship.
