Chapter 18: Inviting the Wolf into the House

The girl's delicate eyes sparkled with purity, her nose was strikingly beautiful, and her small, cherry-like mouth complemented her long, black hair cascading over her shoulders. Though slightly thin, her collarbones were remarkably attractive. In Zhang Cheng's opinion, while she wasn't as beautiful as Tang Ying, she possessed a serene charm.

At the sound of the girl's voice, nearby zombies started to gather around. The girl quickly warned Zhang Cheng, "Be careful, big brother!" But she didn't know that the zombies posed no threat to him. However, in front of her, he had to appear as if he was fighting them off.

Zhang Cheng picked up the baseball bat Chen Tianhu had left behind. Like playing baseball, he started smashing the zombies' heads. The girl watched in awe as Zhang Cheng bravely faced and attacked the zombies. In a short time, he had dispatched over ten zombies that had approached them.

The girl was stunned, having previously witnessed two men being devoured by a group of zombies. But to Zhang Cheng, these zombies were as easy to deal with as wooden dummies.

After clearing the surrounding zombies, Zhang Cheng asked with feigned concern, "Are you hungry?"

"No," the girl shook her head. She was a yoga instructor who had luckily locked herself in the storeroom on the second floor when the outbreak began. Unfortunately, her boss and colleagues were not so lucky and had been eaten by the zombies. She had survived on oatmeal and mineral water intended for the members.

Zhang Cheng inwardly noted her naivety in revealing her food supply to a stranger and even considering sharing it with him. He then offered to clear the zombies from the downstairs area for her, to which she eagerly agreed. She had sought help before, but no one dared to face the zombies inside the yoga studio.

Armed with the bat, Zhang Cheng entered the studio, where over ten zombies roamed among bloodstains and disfigured corpses. He swiftly killed most of them and then headed upstairs, stained with blood.

The second floor had offices, a storeroom, changing rooms, bathrooms, and two hot yoga rooms. Several female zombies, attracted by the girl's voice, were pounding on the storeroom door. Zhang Cheng eliminated them with his bat and called out, "Open the door, let me in."

The girl nodded, quickly opened the door, and after Zhang Cheng entered, she immediately closed and locked it.
