Chapter 43: Steal From Their Home While They're Gone

Half an hour had passed.

Sweat poured down from Xu Chao's forehead.

The incoming zombies were now lying lifeless on the grounds.

Although more zombies were still coming from a distance, Xu Chao had already exhausted most of his strength. He turned around and told the people inside the courtyard to open the gate.

The iron gate was automatic but could also be safeguarded with iron chains and locks.

Once the gate was closed, zombies started hitting it from outside.

The rich 'second-gens' inside the courtyard picked up their sharpened steel pipes.

They quickly burst the zombies' heads.

They executed their moves quite skillfully; it seemed not to be their first time dealing with such situations.

As the off-road vehicles turned off their engines, and the car stereo was turned off, the yard darkened.

Fewer zombies came their way.

Not until all the zombies were cleared did the 'second-gens' in the courtyard return to the villa for rest.

They actually were quite cautious.

Zhang Cheng watched from outside for a while.

Even though Xu Chao's antics were abnormal and hard for him to understand,

he had to admit that Xu Chao and his crew weren't easy targets.

Plus, climbing over the fence to get in was quite a tough task.

However, the villa was indeed nice, and there were so many vehicles in the yard, including RVs.

It would make trips outside quite convenient in the future.

There were limited zombies around here.

Zhang Cheng thought it would be hard to attract a large number of zombies as he had done with the mob.

With this in mind, Zhang Cheng decided to wait a bit longer.

Wait until these 'second-gens' went out, then make a move and steal from their homes in their absence.

The next evening, Xu Chao rode out on his Harley motorcycle.

After a while, he returned.

No one knew what he was doing out there.

When he came back, it was the same scene as before, turning on the headlights of the vehicles, playing the car stereo loudly, attracting zombies.

"This guy must be out of his mind, wasting fuel like that."

Zhang Cheng felt a bit sorry.

In a post-apocalyptic world, every source was precious.

Fuel, even more so.

Being rapidly consumed and highly volatile, running out of fuel was only a matter of time.

However, on the third day in the evening.

It seemed like these 'second-gens' were preparing to set out.

They wheeled out oil barrels from the storeroom in the courtyard and started refueling the off-road vehicles.

Meanwhile, several guys opened the hoods of their vehicles and started checking the engines.

"Xiaotian, hand me the wrench."

"Wang Hao, pass me the bottle of lubricating oil."

The oil forms a good film between the moving parts, aiding in lubrication, auxiliary cooling, rust prevention, cleaning, sealing, and buffering.

Those who know their cars value the quality of the lubricant.

These 'second-gens' not only boast impressive handy skills but take proper care in maintaining their vehicles.

In contrast, Zhang Cheng couldn't even repair a bicycle tire, let alone maintain a car.

At this moment, Xu Chao also put on gloves and began checking his car.

His movements and gaze were more serious than the rest.

"Xiao Chao, mine's ready."

"Xiao Chao, mine's now ready too"

"Xiao Chao, mine's good to go too"

All the vehicles set to depart that evening were fully checked and maintained.

Xu Chao nodded and boarded his car.

Although Emily wanted to get in the car with him, Xu Chao had already started the engine.

Apparently, he didn't want anyone riding with him today.

Emily pouted and sat in Xiaotian's car.

As the gate opened, Xu Chao's car was the first to leave.

A few minutes later, Xiaotian and the others' three cars followed suite.

It wasn't until all four cars had left that the people in the yard started cleaning up, pushing the tools back into the storeroom.
